Last year I seen MSE recommend getting breakdown insurance seperately - so this year i just renewed and knocked off the £80 for national recovery with greenflag figuring i can get it cheaper

I seen recommendos for MSE Breakdown for about the same £80 national recovery (AA RAC)

Wondering have I just wasted my time or does anyone know where I can get National recovery for less than £80

Autonational Rescue is £66, plus topcashback are offering 17.67% cashback which (provided you get it) would drop that to £54.33:

Obviously check the cover gives exactly what you want.

Autoaid will recover you, your vehicle and up to 5 passengers. You can choose to be taken to your destination or your home.

£39 a year covers you and wife/partner for any vehicle you are driving.

You are also covered for roadside assistance and home breakdown.

Axa via a comparison site is cheaper than £80 by far. I think moneysupermarket was the one I used.

I have been with Autoaid for 4 years had to call them out this week for the first time, car wouldn't start, there within 20 mins brilliant service and very helpful, put the claim form in so hoping for a prompt reply.

Last year I seen MSE recommend getting breakdown insurance separately

Just an observation........ a couple of years ago [after a ruckus with AA] I opted for BD cover through my insurer [CIS]....mainly for convenience....

Their breakdown company is their associate company, Britannia.

Come renewal time, I did a quick comparison, to see if simply going through Britannia direct would achieve any advantage?

To my surprise [and that of the customer service guy at my insurer!!], going direct would cost me a bit more!

Plus.....with the insurance add-on, I got cover which was a stage higher than that which I looked for originally!

So, overall, I ended up paying less for the breakdown cover I wanted, plus the add-on of European cover thrown in!

    Very strange!

Works well too....have used the cover twice now...did what I wanted nicely.. but I don't know whether it's the 'cheapest' or what?

But...I do pay monthly, so that helps too.

Autoaid does work well, and they do reimburse promptly....but the downside is, you have to have the initial monies there, ready to use.

So..if your credit card is near maxxed at the time, you might have issues?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Autoaid seems an absolute bargain, but I am very conscious of the saying that "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is, too good to be true" anyone else have any experience with them. My RAC renewal is due in June, we buy through Tesco vouchers so its quite inexpensive, but Autoaid does look tempting.

    What doubts do you have???

Moneysavingexpert have it as a best buy.

I opted for Green Insurance (not to be confused with Green Flag) £55pa covers me and my car and passengers for full UK recovery plus I can use it on any vehicle I am travelling in as a passenger.
