Hopefully someone who already has this machine can advise you better but I'd say it just depends on what they're made from. From what I can tell, sewing light-medium weight cotton etc should be fine but if you're talking denim then I'd say no. The machine has a 'free arm' design which is ideal for taking up trousers.

Oh dear...I'm not doing very well at resisting either! I'm still seriously tempted to buy this to tide me over until I can afford the machine I've had my eye on for ages...especially as MSEers who already own this machine are recommending it also. No doubt I'll be the proud owner of one of these little cuties by tomorrow

On the above blog she mentions that Janome make the JL sewing machines, I have a Janone machine & overlocker and they have both served me well for many years.
