These mini machines have lots of great reviews on the JL website and seem to be a good little lightweight starter machine, especially for children.
Free delivery to store (including lots of Waitrose stores).

Official MoneySavingExpert insert: John Lewis has confirmed these mini sewing machines will be available online only until Wed 22 May, subject to availability. While this isn't the cheapest mini sewing machine we've found, this one's got great reviews (one from an MSE staff member!).

Thank you so much for this. I was going to get my daughter one last Christmas but she got something else - now she is getting one for her birthday :j.0

Is it wrong that I'm tempted to buy this for myself (in my 30s!) rather than for a child??Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0

Not wrong at all. I'm thinking of buying one and I'm in my forties!
All singing and dancing sewing machines look far too complicated for my liking "Women are made to be loved, not understood - Oscar Wilde .
A big thank you to all the fab people that take the time to post bargains :beer:0 -

Really not wrong at all! Same here!
Normally I wouldn't bother with mini machines but the JL one does seem to get very good reviews (and not all from children!)
The only reason I decided against it was that I specifically want to make some quilted items and this machine wouldn't be able to cope with the thickness of the fabrics/wadding involved. For my other crafty bits and light repairs I think it'd be absolutely fine though so I'm still a bit tempted as I can't afford a more expensive machine at the moment and really want to get sewing. Hmmmm....trying to resist!0 -
Thanks for this. Perfect for my daughter.xx0

Thanks OP. I've been thinking about getting one for months but the one I had been looking at was around £200, being a total newbie and not having used a machine since school I couldn't justify spending so much. This price is ideal and the reviews seem good.0

Not wrong at all! I'd love the purple one - now is that wrong??!! :rotfl:0

I've got a plain lilac one of these (I am in my late 30's), and it has been great, had it over a year. I find it much easier to stick on the coffee table and actually use it, than the hasstle of a big one. I have made cushion covers, bags, dolls clothes, .. all from cotton. Great for small simple things. It doesn't go very fast. I didn't think it would be good for thicker, but a few months ago it whipped up a double fleece blanket for the dog. My neice uses it too, who is only 5 and it is perfect for her. £35 is a great price.0
