Hello everyone - havent posted for a while, but have been trying to keep up. Double hugs to all who need or want them.

Not much planned for today. Have already made 7 phonecalls to family today. My sister, brother and I are arranging the scattering of our parents ashes in June. Trying to get everyone together on the same day is difficult, but I think we've managed it.

Am also trying to arrange my travel from Cornwall up to the Midlands - but d**n Virgin trains have stoppped doing their 14 Day Value tickets. They used to cost £15.50 each way. But now it looks like a 3 day trip is now going to cost me £104.50 return!! And thats just to Birmingham New Street - never mind travelling on from there to Cannock! Or accommodation/food whilst I am there! I emailed them to say it would be cheaper for me to fly from Newquay to Birmingham via Stanstead!!

Still, I don't want to miss this. It's probably going to be the last time all of us will be together. Extended families are fine, but you do tend to lose touch of people quite quickly.

I do have some good news, however. My step-daughter is expecting her second child, and last Thursday she went for her 20 week scan. She and her bf, let her first daughter (Rebecca) ask the doctor the sex of the baby - and it looks like she's going to have a little sister to play with!! Everyone is so excited! It will be nice to have a baby to hold again - although I will admit I have never changed a nappy. ;):D

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Looks like its going to be a very sunny day here (she said), so I will now get myself ready to go out and enjoy the football. Not bothered who wins, just like to see 22 pairs of fit legs running up and down the field :rotfl: :rotfl:

Take care everyone. Have a lovely weekend - especially those of you who are celebrating.

    LG

Morning everyone! Weather here undecided, but washing on line blowing well - just have to keep an eye to make sure it doesn't get soaked!
Tried to catch up on yesterday's thread - Kyle , so sorry to hear of the little girl who died. From personal experience, the organisation "The Compassionate Friends" - made up solely of bereaved parents supporting other bereaved parents - may be useful for you to pass on to her Mother - they really do understand exactly what it feels like. Number is in the phone book and there's a website.
Annielover, can't get your cousin's son out of my mind. My remaining son misses his elder brother dreadfully even now and takes huge risks with his own health (mainly drinking problems) as to him it really doesn't matter. Hard to stand by but can't do too much. ((Hugs))
Took a lttle while to work out why the roads and Mr T's were quite so busy this morning...should have waited until this afternoon and could have shopped in peace!
Hope all you footie fans enjoy the match (I prefer rugby really!)

Just stopping for a quick coffee and to say hello to everyone. Been rushing around like a mad thing, cos soon I'll need to take up my position centre-front of the TV for the match! Come on Chelsea!!!!!!!!!!! I've supported them since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, so been through thick and thin. And I live with a housefull of Arsenal supporters.

Queenie how did you manage to get it so wrong with younger DS?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What time does this match kick off then - I was wondering why its like ghost town outside! I am one of those very lucky women blessed with a BF who doesn't particularly like footbal. He's half dutch and only ever watches if Holland are playing!

    Afternoon All

Samsampotts - 3pm ko - Chelsea to win - will be putting out our flags in a minute - luckily we all support Chelsea (though I must admit I do like watching Ronaldo)

Have only skimmed the thread today so hope everyone is ok (((hugs))) if needed. Oh and Happy Birthday to Mr GB

Been busy bee this morning, sun is in and out but is lovely & breezy so laundry is the main order of the day. 2 loads out on the line and a couple more to do. When I had my shower this morning I bleached another wall of grouting (we have mosiac tiles - lots of grout). Have since cleaned oven and hob and fridge. Will shine my sinks in a min then think that will be it. Need also to make snacks for the football.

Meeting at bank wasnt great yesterday, we need to extend our business od but at my bank all business borrowing has now got to be secured. So going to avoid that and pull belt right in so will join next months grocery challenge. Feeling positive about it so thats good.

My family are popping over today to see my sister - will probably pop in here but will try and make it before or after the football.

Better be off now - sandwhiches for lunch today and free range chicken kievs for dinner.

    Have a great weekend all.

Hi everyone! Sun still shining here but a really cold wind so I’ve put the heating on just to take the chill out of the air.
JET – sardines on toast are lovely. QUEENIE – you obviously get inventive with yours but I just have them on toast once or twice a week. Still, whatever you do with them, they are delicious and so good for you. Well done to D12yo – you must be very proud!
ANNIE B – thinking about your cousin’s son. My DS2 is nearly 26 and I couldn’t bear him to be feeling that way.
SMOKY – hope the lady’s pain relief is sorted out soon
PENPIN – I usually just mix chopped carrots and cabbage with mayo to make coleslaw – if you’ve time, perhaps you could post the recipe so I can make it properly! I don’t really like mayo!
RAGE - let us know when you say ‘I thought you knew’! Also, re queueing at the post office; I always use the smaller post offices (if you can find one, of course, now that TB has closed most of them down). There is always a huge queue in our nearest main post office and you have to wait in a narrow corridor in one long queue and you feel trapped in with everyone’s BO and other weird smells; I hate it and will go out of my way to avoid it.
CATOWEN – congratulations on winning the trees!
SAMSAM – wondered where you were! Hope you’re feeling better now?
Mr 1012DONNA – Happy Birthday to you. 33, eh? I remember that! I could be your mum – my oldest is 35!
KYLE – well done with Amazon! I have been doing it for about three weeks and have sold five books and have one pending sale at the moment; AND I listed a book last night and there was only one other on the whole of Amazon’s database and it was priced at £35.79! I priced mine for less than that but I think the owner of the other one has some of the software that automatically brings the price of his stock down to match the lowest. I was so tempted to put it down to a penny but don’t want to lose a good sale. Anyway, at the moment both the books are on there at the same price! It was only a paperback, as well! I sold one on Thursday that went for £14.50 (I think) but it was a hardback and Amazon only credited me with £2.75 postage and it cost me £4.25! So - a tip – try to sell the lightest books!
CSARINA – welcome back – glad you enjoyed France and came back well-stocked. My turn next week or so; I think we’re going out on 28th May, will stay in France until 3rd June and then drive to Italy for DS1’s romantic wedding, stay there for three nights, then drive back through Austria and Germany to France and stay there until about 18th June. That’s the plan, anyway! Can’t wait but I do hate all the washing when you get home! Thinking about your cousin’s wife but she has gone to a better place – she will be with all the loved-ones she has had to spend so long without.
MRSMORTENHARKET – pleased to meet you!
Well, I managed to hit the Co-op at about 8.30 this morning when it was lovely and quiet. I do love it in there – it has such a lovely atmosphere and they are all so friendly. Anyway, I spent – and this is my lowest yet - £27.41p! Mind you, I had bought all my fruit and veg at the farm shop and some meat at the butchers yesterday, but, all in all, I have done well and bought enough for loads of meals, baking etc – shan’t need to do a big shop for a while now. I also decided at the beginning of last week to have meals from the contents of the freezer and larder and I made myself stick to that so all last weeks meals were, effectively, free! I still have not got round to a proper meal/menu plan or definite costings for everything I make but this week I will get that done.
Anyway, good news from my neck of the woods. My nephew and his wife have just had their second daughter so need to get knitting for her before I finish my other two projects. I have found an American pattern for a snuggly – a square comforter blanket with a little rabbit’s head in one corner; it’s so cute and will look lovely in sugar pink. I don’t think it will take long either. Have any of you others who knit looked at the
American knitting websites? They are so inventive with their patterns. I print loads off and stack them up to do but don’t have enough time to knit every day so, because I keep finding new ones, the stack of patterns is in danger of swamping me! Anyway, as it will be a chilly afternoon and evening, I think I’ll spend most of it knitting.
Right now, I have to get the bread going in the BM and then make some cakes. I have one load of washing – DH’s work clothes – on the line; I have yet another huge pile of ironing which I will do tomorrow and I also need to list some more stuff on eBay. What am I doing still sat here?!
Will call back later – hope everyone is having a great day so far!

Queenie how did you manage to get it so wrong with younger DS?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It gets worse ... d11yo is an Arsenal fan and the only reason he's backing Man U today is to spite his brother :rotfl:and he's already decreed that MU are going to win

When Chelsea and Arsenal play against each other, one sits on one sofa one side of the room and the other sits on his sofa on the other side of the room, both wearing their strips. Blue food/drink for one; red food/drink for the other. It's manic!!! And .... I blame their father! :naughty: I stopped enjoying footie when a) my brothers used me as their goal post and b) when I broke my toe playing :o

Kathy - yes, I know what you mean about the inventiveness of US knitting :D I'm not really a knitter, despite my mother teaching me at 5yo and despite making some scarves for gifting at Christmas and dabbling with making my own dishcloths, but I do still like looking at the patterns and thinking ... one day! Congrats to your nephew and family :T

Ladygrim - congrats to your step daughter too  :T

    Welcome back mrsmortenharket :hello:

HELP!! I'm about to make yoghurt cake - a recipe I got from this thread but I can't remember who from - It has occurred to me that I don't know what size carton of yoghurt you start with as this would effect how many eggs go in. Can anyone help? The recipe says 1 carton of yoghurt to 3 eggs but doesn't say the size of the carton.

    Hi all
I made the yoghurt cake Thursday with a Muller lite strawberry yoghurt, just the standard size, the cake turned out really well & went down a storm at work.
I've had to spend some of my remaining £40, I bought some veg, reduced so it only cost me 53p, but I've also had to buy washing powder, I bought a huge box at the beginning of the month & it's nearly all gone, my lodger uses far too much, I've tried telling her, but she's not taken any notice. I was thinking of buying tablets, I know they are more expensive, but if she only uses 1 per wash, it may work out cheaper in the long run.
Not much else to report here, I've made a fresh loaf & we had chicken pieces & salad from the freezer for lunch & will have HM soup later. We're babysitting later on as it's my DD's birthday, so won't get much done with a nearly 3 year old here.
    Hugs to all

    Hi All,

Have a nasty head cold so am feeling a bit nasty at the moment. I knew I was in for it when DD2 had it last weekend, I always seem to come down with the things that they catch. Never mind, hopefully it will be on its way soon, and I am having fantastic sleep with the aid of Beechams powders!

This morning I popped round to church to do the flowers, they look lovely if you are sitting right in front of them, but not so good if you are sitting either side, they just didnt seem to want to "go" right today.

OH has just made me a lovely egg mayo sandwich with DD's home grown cress, after I have polished this off I will start on my Saturday clean up, I dont know why the house gets into such a mess on Saturdays - put a colour on my hair and do a small amount of budget tweaking on the computer.

Tea tonight is chicken on skewers, (thai red curry, and lemongrass) with some savoury rice and salad, followed by yummy chocolate cake. Ive got a nice evening of chilling planned with cross stitching, a few clothing repairs and a bit of knitting, and a glass of something to go with it!

Forgot to mention, got a parcel from Royal Mail this morning, was the lovely Royal Mail delivery man who caught me in my dressing gown mid toast this morning, (he just had to tell me that his tomato plants are bigger then mine and have flowers on already - show off! He knows this because I have a lot of stuff in pots in the porch) He had delivered my half price Boots sale goodies, stocking fillers for DD's to be put away for Christmas. Im trying to spread Christmas throughout the year this year.
