LPS Parking Ticket

Hi all,
I've received my very first parking ticket today from LPS (Local Parking Security Ltd).
I went to a local pub, didn't realise it was park and pay, went in for a coke and chat with a friend and came out and saw the ticket on my car.
They want me to pay 40 quid within the next 14 days or 60 quid after that.
As I'm quite an avid reader of this forum, I believe I might be able to just ignore this and it will go away? Is this correct? Do I need to appeal (under what grounds I don't know!?).

So you made a genuine mistake and did not pay for parking your car. But this does not mean you should pay a PPC any thing.
Some one, a regular poster on this forum, will be along to help you soon.
Do not respond to a pm if the poster has less than 1000 posts.
However, it seems to me this ppc has broken the BPA CoP, because they are asking more than the 40% less of £60,as 40% is £36!
This seems to be a good one for the POPLA route.Got a ticket from ParkingEye? Seek advice by clicking here: Private Parking forum on MoneySavingExpert.:j0 -
Lovely thanks! I won't be responding to any PM's, I'm aware some of the PPC staff are lurkers on here
The wording is as follows:
'Excess Charge Notice;
It then goes on to give a reference number, vehicle reg, time, issues by number and location code. then the details of my car. issue reason 'parking without displaying a valid ticket'.
It states in big capitals ' A parking charge of 60.00 is due within 28 days of the date of issue'.
Then it states ' the reduced amount of 40.00 will be accepted if payment is received within 14 days of the date of this notice, failure to provide payment of the full amount within 28 days will result in further administrative costs'.
I assume I'll get a few scary letters and then they will go away
Popla? Who is this?0 -

Thats very very likely.Popla? Who is this?
POPLA is the 'independant' adjudicator who when the PPC has rejected your 'appeal'(and there is a timescale for you to do this) they must send you a code which you can use in appealing to POPLA, "Parking on Private Land Appeal." With help from here POPLA will accept your appeal and the PPC should cancel their ticket. (If POPLA decides against you their decision is not binding on you and you can continue to ignore.) When using POPLA you cost the PPC circa £32(£27 + VAT).
Someone more knowledgeable will be with you any time soon.Got a ticket from ParkingEye? Seek advice by clicking here: Private Parking forum on MoneySavingExpert.:j0 -

Oh dear, so I'm going to have to appeal? I was under the impression that you just ignore these things.
Can anyone advise me exactly what to do please?
Thanks0 -
Dont look on it as an appeal, as in "I wish to appeal this parking charge notice" this gives it more credit than its worth, look on it as a challenge as in "I wish to challenge the invoice that was sent to me"From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
I wouldn't go to a pub where I had to pay to park. Unless you got your parking fee back if you spent more that £5 or some such amount.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Look on it as a way of costing them money0

Thanks for the replies, but I'm utterly confused.
On most of the posts here, it says to not contac them at all?! Now I'm supposed too? Could someone please confirm the exact process of what I need to do?
I'm not worried about the threatening letters etc, but I am worried about being taken to court for ignoring it etc.
Thanks0 -

You don't have to appeal, you can just ignore them if its your vehicle. There is no obligation to use popla. I have never heard of this company going to court ever. Could you confirm the exact name of the company LPS could be anyone. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
