Hi Bear. How are you feeling? What preparation have you done so far? Welcome!
So yeah, I know what to expect and everything..my main creditor is HMRC, owing them tax for 2007/2008 from when I was self employed up until I had a sudden long term illness crisis (a major stroke) that forced me to give up work in the snap of a finger back in April 2008...I recovered well but didn't start working again until 2011 and was waiting for them to make me bankrupt but it never seemed to happen..surprisingly I had very little contact with them about the debt until out of the blue, they got a CCJ against me for the amount in Oct last year for the amount outstanding then a couple of weeks ago I got a call from them telling me that they had no intention of making me bankrupt because I was employed and now paying tax PAYE..instead they intended to get an Attachment of Earnings which with the amount I owe, would mean paying it back for the rest of my working life and well beyond into my retirement..not a realistic option, so next Thursday I'm taking matters into my own hands and doing the deed myself so I can finally make a fresh start without it hanging over my head!
I'm not particularly looking forward to living with an IPA for the next 3 years, so I'm a bit worried about that...but hey, I'll live and it's a small price to pay for future peace of mind!
Good luck to everyone else in the May club!0 -

You certainly have no choice there then bear. I hope all this really does bring a fresh start for us all. I have concerns over soa allowances and affording an ipa, if i get one, too. Hence, me avoiding the paperwork...0

LOL! Yep, me too!! I'm spending this weekend filling in the forms...I'm expecting a hefty IPA but I'm certainly prepared to fight tooth and nail to make sure my allowances are truly reasonable for the 3 years and not just the very basic, I don't want to find myself struggling and having to live on rice and beans on toast for the period...let's just hope we both get an understanding and fair OR!!0 -
My day in court is 3rd May. I was originally down for a day in April and am a member of the April group but I had to cancel due to not having enough money to pay for my BR. I can feel the stress levels trying to rise again but I am trying to stay positive. Since the 15th of April when I didnt pay any of my creditors I have today received a total of 67 telephone calls from my creditors, my mobile is on silent as there is nothing I can tell them as I am living on £30 a week after paying my priority debts/bills. Many of them are payday loans and their persistence is astonishing!! Hopefully by Friday I will be able to exhale again as debt has become such a big part of my life and seems to be all I think/talk about. I told friends that I wont have anything to moan about after Friday, it will be like coming out of prison and although I'll be broke I might finally get a good nights sleep after 7 years of hell!!0
