I'm with Plusnet too. No deposit and a much cheaper service than BT but still using the BT lines. The only thing is Plusnet don't provide a TV service, which I'd like.

I've had no problems with Plusnet and their service centre is in Yorkshire with much friendlier operators than most.

With my BT Infinity, I get speed tests about 50Mb/s, but it doesn't feel any faster than my 5Mb/s mobile broadband.

Until the servers they are hosted on are up to it, be a while before you really see the benefit imho

    BT Infinity installed this morning.

My slot was 8am to 1pm and the engineer arrived at 8.20.

Left at 11.00 am after installing everything (including running the cables from the modem through to my bedroom which meant drilling through 2 walls and using 6m of ethernet cable).

Waiting for my extra channels to appear on my BT Vision Box, but the internet is up & running and averaging 60mb down/ 15mb up.

Well done BT, I am another happy customer !.

The first quote is a totally valid point..................the second quote is the one that is "rubbish and total tosh"...............

Very few website servers are capable of downloading at anywhere near the speed of a fibre internet connection.
I would almost go as far to say that the BT speed tester and one or two other sites which can download large files for speed testing sites are the few that can do this.

The only downside I have found to having my BT Infinity fitted is that I was told to stop using the Powerline Adaptors (because my modem and box are in different rooms).

So I did and started using the cabling and junction boxes fitted by the engineer, with the result that my box was permanently offline.

I resolved this by using the Powerline Adaptors again.

This may change in a couple of months when they stop broadcasting Sky Sports via the aerial and broadcast via my broadband, at which point I will be forced to move my box into the same room as the Hub.

The engineer told me that the Hub and box have to be wired together for it to work properly - we shall see !.
  • since moving to infinity my bills have been chaos
It took 3 months for my call packages to be sorted out
I was on the international and the anytime packages but my calls were all being charged at normal non-package rates---despite being told that it was fixed--now I am being charged £99 for an engineers visit, that was organised by a BT forum moderator, who assured me it was free, for remedial work on a shoddy installation.
on the plus side the broadband might be expensive but solid
I have 40/10 package and am getting 38.5/8.6 just now 600m from cabinet
