    Hi Zziggi,

I haven't tasted the schwartz garlic bread seasoning so have no idea what it tastes like, but I have mixed garlic granules and dried parsley together in an emergency then combined it with softened butter to make garlic bread. I used one teaspoon of granules and one teaspoon of parsley to about an oz of butter. I imagine you could add other dried herbs too eg oregano, basil or even mixed herbs.

I put the garlic butter on the bread after the bread is cooked. I actually make rolls and use these. I spread the butter on the rolls and then wrap in foil and put in the oven until the garlic butter is melted

    Hope that helps

I cheat and use part-baked baguettes, but I slice it nearly all the way through into 1.5-2inch slices and then spread the cut sides with very garlicky butter, wrap the baguette in foil and put in the oven at 180 for 5 mins then open the foil and put back in the oven for another 10 mins. A bit fiddly spreading the garlic butter, but bloomin' lovely! It's extra good if you make too much garlic butter and have to spread it over the top of the baguette as well as inside it :D

I want to make my own with ciabatta bread.

Tried it yesterday with butter, parsley and grinding garlic granules and I wasnt impressed.

Today, i have bouth a garlic bulb but can anyone say how much garlic i put in to say 2 oz of butter, can i use more butter and store it.

Ive only ever bought ready made but would like to have a go.

I would use 1 clove of garlic per 2oz butter. Mash the garlic to a paste and then beat into the butter. You can then add finely chopped spring onions or chives or parsley for a bit of colour and extra flavour, or a teaspoon of lemon juice is nice too.
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?
