Oh, are they supposed to be weight-loss pills? The blurb on the JP website doesn't make that at all obvious.Skint_but_Optimistic wrote: »The chewables, however I am giving the kids in lieu of sweeties. Even GM fruit has to be better than mono-sodium glutamate.
Pardon? ..Don't think anyone will be able to say that with certainty, for at least twenty years. If early "fringe" experiments are producing accurate results, then there's a big question over the next generation's fertility, for a start.
Farmers are already reporting higher than expected rates of malformation in young-stock when mum is fed on GM (genetic changes detectable on necropsy).
MSG is definitely implicated in children's behaviour problems, but I've not seen any research which suggests the ill-effects are long term. Do have personal experience of children labelled ADHD [and similar] whose behaviour changed completely when put onto a home-cooked diet which also avoids bought 'treats'..
The best 'sweetie' treat we had when my lot were young, was flapjacks (made with honey and / or dried fruit as the sweetener - DIL1 is now experimenting with the herb Stevia as a substitute for honey, which is likely to become scarce / expensive soon).
Kids can make 'em - great fun activity which also encourages a love of cooking. Dividing the results into a portion for everyone in the family is a maths lesson, then each child making their share last until the next baking session is invaluable for learning self-control.
Win win win - and two more wins because Mum is certain she's not giving her kids suspect ingredients, and of course oats are a very valuable part of a healthy diet!
ETA: Another win - flapjacks are a very MSE treat!Skint_but_Optimistic wrote: »Bleugh. no such thing as a quick win xxx

Nevermind, will credit check the next one. This one changed all the meters to Payg!
Before she leaves, find out whether the utility suppliers are going to charge for replacing the meters - having PAYG will put off [STRIKE]many[/STRIKE] most if not all solvent potential tenants!Skint_but_Optimistic wrote: »Why has life got to be so taxing???
 Y' got me stumped on that one, dear girl! :rotfl:
Very, very much hope you're feeling brighter today, SbO - am not usually noted for rushing to the GP, but wouldn't hesitate with an infection in the ears.0 -
Month 20 day 23.
Back to gps today folks. Balance is still compromised and I'm having to get up extremely slowly on a morning until ears sort themselves out.
Robin thanks for your comments.... my husband has voiced similar issues with the product. I do admit getting the chewable free was a major decision factor.
My friend is on Juice plus and has lost 2 stones. I'm giving it a go. I don't want to lost 2 stones I just want to slim a bit. Saleswoman that I am....my immune system isn't doing so well on it so far!
Clean eating is something we already aspire to as a family. I say aspire purely because lives are so busy and needs must at times.
Financially - not much to report - ducks remain in a row- eBay has been paid for all £4 of it - and I am hoping free listing weekends restart. Got lots of treasures to pass to new homes!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
I'd leave the PAYG meters in place. It stops the tenant from leaving you with a large bill when they leave at the end of the tenancy.Never Knowingly Understood.

Ahh, thats better..
past couple of days I have posted using a mobile phone. Now smart phones are ace, but they arent like using the lappy or pc.
News from the mark. Still off with the blasted ear. Its more itchy now, so hopefully that indicates healing. Heres hoping.
My mams washer machine has given up and as its under warranty, shouldnt be much of an issue you would think, but she has to wait until Tuesday for the bloke to fix it.
My mam is washing obsessed, which means I am the recipient of frequent deliveries of washing. Three deliveries so far, since yesterday morning. As its mizzly today the chinese laundry look is back in vogue. Mam isnt keen on drying it herself oddly.
Ill return the favour one day.
Gave my head a shake re tenant and general news.
"Advertised" the house on facebook. Will see who comes back. I will re advertise again soon.
To save time with getting the house turned around, I contacted the electrician about a snaggy little issue with the socket, the current tenant can allow the electrican access, plus have arranged the gas service too.
I will hire a carpet cleaner as well, and will get it back to rights.
The tenant has asked when she can have her bond back, well, once we have notice we will arrange for that to be released.
I have also rang pounds to pocket. I can clear the remaining loan for 830 pounds on payday, so I will. That will release 320 per month which next month will pay my amex and the month following will go some way to start clearing my TFS loan. All still on track and not quite as expensive as I had thought.
I am going to have a little financial reshuffle. I have started using money dashboard and its fantastic. Currently, my card debt is at £13,066 mind, 9000 of that is at 0%.
Just need to keep at it. wont manage to get round the diaries today i dont think. I will instead work some figures out.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Right
My aim is to clear and close an account every 2 months to the end of the year.
Its acheiveable and good for morale.
Bring it on!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Hi SbO, :hello:
Sounds like your poorly ear is responding to treatment - thank goodness!
Came across an interesting site while following a link on Mooloo's thread, and thought of you and DFw:
http://www.homegroup.org.uk/careandsupport/Pages/landlordsneeded.aspx
Could be a good way to remove a lot of the uncertainties of land-lording, whilst also giving a hand to vulnerable folk? Sounds like the tenants this organisation help are very well supervised, and the rent is paid direct...
What do you think?
Might follow it up m'self, as I've seen a house with a granny flat for sale - the flat would do for DS, but I'd need to rent out the house to make the project work.Skint_but_Optimistic wrote: »The tenant has asked when she can have her bond back, well, once we have notice we will arrange for that to be released.
Isn't a bond instead of a damage deposit? Surely you don't have to release it until you've done her check-out inspection, confirming there's no damage she has to pay for?
Good luck with your Mam's washing (have you got a heated dryer or dehumidifier? Both wonderful for drying inside).
More good luck with the loan companies - the sooner you can wave goodbye to PtP the better!0 -
Cheers Robin!
Weather broke yesterday and the washing was outside!!! Today much of the same and set to break later.
Will look into the link you sent (am again on the phone) but we have a new tenant lined up.
You are perfectly right about the deposit bond. I'm going to have to inspect first. As she has a dog now ( this wasn't cleared with us.. It was assumed as we have pets we wouldn't mind) she said she's re papering the rear hall. Will see what the inspection brings!!
off to the park with my son. Hope to feed the squirrels!
So relieved am re tenanted!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
