  • Drat to the car, but at least it's not TOO expensive (bit still a pain).

Hope the cash flow improves shortly and the low mood is banished. I feel for you - just coming out of another one myself.

    Hi SbO, :hello:

Sounds like car fault was the UJ [universal joint]. Good news, as that's the easiest prop-shaft bearing to fix. However, keep an ear on the mechanical sounds car makes over the next couple of months; an increase in transmission 'whine' or 'clunking' when gear is changed, may herald damage already done to one of the other bearings. If that happens, take it to the garage sooner rather than later to avoid possibility of a nasty accident (think front end of prop coming adrift and digging into road - like throwing out an anchor!).
Can you tell I usually drive old cars, lol? :o

Hope your expenses get sorted out pronto!
  • Month 21 Day 6

Hi all J It was indeed good news that insurance actually paid out for something… who would have thunk it?

JAT – my own fault – some of it. I have medication but I am hopeless at taking them. So the slightest thing can make me melancholy. Taking my tablet Right Now.

Now that’s sorted, I have a special birthday boy this weekend. Well his birthday is Monday, DS will be 4! He is such a special and engaging little boy – I am very lucky to be his mam. He has mastered the “standing up wee” following a tentative period where he mistrusted it greatly. Now, he encourages observers from the family to watch his mastery. It must be wonderful to have such innocence in this world.

    Hehe.

He can write his name beautifully, count to thirty eight and understands most technology very well. He also watches and plays football and likes to help around the house. I am proud of the little ratbag.

Family will gather for a bit cake and crisps at the weekend.

The car is returned and works like a dream. It’s very annoying isn’t it MIT when squeaks start. They could just be a squeak but it could be a real issue. I have a squeak as well. I hope its nothing.

    Moneywise… mini meh…..

Tenant paid a little more rent last night so all is up to date.(had been a little behind with agreement)

Expenses (all in excess of £600 of them) are still sitting at “approved” once they go to “paid” it’s another 5 days before they hit my account. The holdup is a complete and utter mystery. I escalated to my manager the other day but it’s a shambles.

Anyway onwards and upwards. You all know what it’s like when things don’t go how you want, and you hit a few hurdles.
Things take on an importance and a gravitas all of their own.

The end of this week looks like ending on a high despite those outstanding issues.

I managed to cut the grass last night thankfully, garden looks nice and green and healthy J

Thanks for the tip Robin... I think a full healthcheck is in order for the old girl and a full service. Once we have some money!

Good news on the car. Nice to hear that at least sometimes the insurers pay out instead of trying to wriggle-out of coughing-up.

Know what it is like to try to remember to take your meds. I keep forgetting to use my inhaler in the morning despite me putting it right by my bed to remind me.

  • Month 21 Day 9 DS is 4!!!

Hi all J Car is still working – praise be. I have filled it up also with petrol, (boo hiss)- means £65 less to my focus debt but thems the breaks.

I am still **trying** to effectively medicate. I am working to the 50% rule, and will try and get better. Just took one, so it helps mentioning it.

My special birthday boy went to school in his spiderman trainers!!. He also wore his “Hulk Smash” underpants.

    Hehe.

He got some fabulous presents including a laser sight nerf gun and a bike. He will be getting even more tonight!!!

Family will reconvene for more excitement later.

Had a scoot about to get DS some last minute bits. More cake and some further treats!

Also got a stunning spiderman balloon which I have shown off in the office.

It’s a bubble balloon with bubbles underneath. Its really nice! I like it.

The weather is due to get a lot colder this week which wont be good, but myself and DD1 will take our dogs to get groomed together on Saturday and look at wedding dresses (for her shes the 25 year old engaged DD) and Sunday after church we will take DS to the metrocentre for treats.

We get DD2 back on Sunday evening and can perhaps go for a nice dog walk on Monday and have a roast dinner. We have local conservation area and a historic religious trail which would be lovely to do.

I'm so bad at taking my medication first thing in the morning, I usually take the first one on the tube - if I remember. Then, I tend to forget the lunchtime one (and the evening one), so you're not alone. Together, maybe we can remind each other. Mind you, I'm ahead of the game - having had both the breakfast (OK, on tube . . .) and lunchtime one today. Long may it continue. Except that means another round of trying to get the next prescription from the Dr. For some reason, she's not set me up as having a repeat allowed and its a bit of a scramble to organise.

Love your description of your little man (almost put "wee", but given the context, thought better not). He sounds fantastic!

    Take care.

Cheers JaT, I am a real pain. I NEED to take my meds with food, not as a requirement of the dosage but simply because if I don’t the resulting pain of heartburn is like fire, it’s absolutely horrible. I have had the most terrible times as a result of this. So it puts me off unless I *just* ate

Well, DS poor lad, got a load of Disney infinity stuff for his birthday. S@insburys had a special offer on them and myself and DH have built up a lovely parcel for him. We gave him them last night and he unwrapped…. Utter delight! Then the stark discovery that the playstation was kaput.

According to internet blogs and other sources, the yellow light of death is pretty serious stuff. At lunchtime, we found that Grainger games will attempt to effect a repair for £45- will need to give that a go.

Never mind, he loved his Spiderman balloon!!

Today dawned and was thick with fog and mizzle. Now, it is very very warm. I have a thick coat to wear to walk back to the car…

Plans are still afoot for the weekend. Looking forward to the next bank holiday!

The expenses are still awaiting payment though, annoyingly.

The 'YLOD' is usually down to a dry solder joint on the PS's mainboard. The usual fix is to remove the mainboard an 'bake' it in a solder oven for 5 minutes.

Much quicker then close inspection for dry joints. Fix can last anywhere from 1 month to a few years.
