iPad ban in local pub, legal?

I need my iPad for when I'm on call so take it to the local pub when I'm on call in case I need to connect to the office for work. The pub has just been sent info from head office saying iPad's are now banned. Is this legal?

Yes of course.
The management can refuse to serve, and eject, whoever they want from their premises.0 -

Or maybe don't go to the pub when you are on call;)0 -
Where is this pub as it sounds like a good pub0

Specifically iPads or any other tablet device? Could you use a laptop instead? Or a Samsung Galaxy Tab? Does it include the iPad Mini?0

I don't know if it's legal or not, but it seems a way for the pub to turn away customers.
And since the iPad is just an oversized iPhone, are they turning away iPhones too?0 -
Could you not just keep it in your bag? I can't see them checking for them as you enter..maybe too many people cheating at the pub quiz?0

Are you going in, spending hours there and buying just half a coke or something? Would explain why this 'policy' has just been sent to them from head office.0

Also, do they offer free WiFi? People may be taking the proverbial and abusing the free WiFi - easier to do on an iPad than a smartphone.0
