Os Daily Friday 18th May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16/05/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning AMIE - you sound as if you have a great day ahead of you! I was up till late last night because we had been to DS2s and GF's for dinner (bacon wrapped sausages, parsnips, peas, mash and gravy - lovely!) with my Apple Brown Betty and cream for pud. then, when we came home, we found we had several questions from buyers about some eBay items and a message telling me I had sold my third book in a week on Amazon (this latest one was for £14.00!!) So, a long and quite productive couple of hours on the computer with DH telling me what to write in his own words and me typing it in mine (well, it made more sense!). We also had a couple of G & T's to help - well, it helped me get to sleep!
Today DH should pick his car up now that it has had over £200 worth of master cylinder sorted out which means I get my car back - yippee. Have only been without it for twenty four hours or so but I've missed it! Still, he filled the tank for me. How OS is that?!
Since joining MSE I have not really trawled the rest of the OS threads as much as I should have (really, because it is so easy to find you spend ALL DAY on here, isn't it?!) but I looked at a few just now and there are so many ways to cut down on the spending that it is time well spent. I'm going to treat myself to a couple of hours this afternoon going through as many as I can. I have already made great savings in my food bill and made the most of all my leftovers and the items I have such as the BM but there must be room for even more!
Dinner tonight will be HBM chicken casserole from the freezer - maybe with some roasties, and left over plum and rhubarb crumble with yoghurt. I found a recipe on one of the other threads for a ginger cake in the BM so will have a go at that. Also, AMIE - I have had an order from my DGSyo for some Weetabix Brownies (he LOVED them!!) ready for his visit on Sunday. Thing is, I'll have to hide some because DH loves them as well and I don't want him to eat them all before Sunday!
Will be changing the sheets today and giving the house a good clean, and I need to post the book I sold; I have some items finishing on eBay today and I want to list some more, I need to catch up on some knitting and a bit of paperwork; I have a medium-sized pile of ironing which I may leave until tomorrow - see how I feel! - and DH needs some business paperwork doing so I'll have to get going soon!
Looks like the sun is coming up - I hope we have a good weekend but, the last time I looked, the forecast was not too good. Still, they're not always right, are they?
Going to have another cuppa, a shower and get DH up and out!
Hi to all who post after me and those who may have posted while I have been typing this. (((hugs))) to all in need and will drop in later!

    Morning Amie and mioliere :j

Woke up really worried as hubby had spoke to me about getting a new car.....really nice older car but really rare and not much opportunity to buy them but it meant that instead of us paying off our mortgage next year it would be in 4 years and because of that I was really upset (isn't the right word but can't think). Anyway just sent him a text asking him what he was thinking and he said that he had decided against it........ phew!

Went to the dentist yesterday and I liked him, really nice and put me at my ease (or was that the diazapam??) Anyhow I have a new NHS dentist so that is me happy.

Making scones (again) when I get in tonight and looking forward to it :D
and need to change the beds.

Take care and have a great weekend

Good Morning Amie, Kathy and Emmy, Queenie and all who follow.

I am in a particularly good mood today... Last year a van drove through our wall and into the garden. The wall was repaired and all was OK, but I thought I should write to them and ask for replacement plants and an ornamental bee hive. Long story short. They are giving me £500 cash.  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Do you really think I am going out to buy expensive plants????????????

Work today and then all weekend too. Most of next week off though . Things are looking up

    Good morning all
I tried to post last night, but was having pc problems, I do hope hubby hasn't downloaded another virus.
I finally got my wages sorted out, it seems they sent my wages to the wrong person, thats the problem with having such a common surname! The bad news is the money won't be paid to me until 31st of May which means I have less than £40 to last till then, so that should be an interesting challenge.
I'll let you know how I get on.
    Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone,

Ended up in the garden last night doing some weeding - and found a baby newt!!! DD was delighted, and asked if she could put it in a bucket and take it to school (they are looking after some newts from the school pond) - so we put some rain water and some stones in a bucket, and this morning it has disapeared!!!! Luckily i put the bucket in the sink, so i think its gone down the plughole, but DD is going to be upset when she gets up in a bit. Garden looking very nice at the front now, and just need to finish the side of the house (want to move some plants around) will have to see what the weekend brings weather wise.
Today, i have 2 LOs here, and also my friends daughter coming around (the one who went to Oz, her DD is taking her GCSEs and now only has to go to school to take the exams, so i think she is bored!!!) so might get her to help with the LOs. Do want to do some baking today - we have run out of cakes and biscuits, and my mum is coming down tomorrow, so would like something here.
Not much cleaning to do, other than the kitchen floor, but that will be done after dinner tonight. Ther main thing is to email said friend in Oz (havnt spoken/emailed her for a couple of weeks now, and really must do it) and also sort out that ever growing pile of paperwork - its getting out of control now, and ive been meaning to do it for days now.
Right, better get started before the first one arrives.

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Work now, then hairdressers, eyebrows waxed, finish packing (things that crease and what I have forgot up to now) and off. Fly at 5.30 p.m Spanish sunshine here we come. I think OS may be on hold for a while, though its easy to eat fresh out there.

((((((Hugs)))))), congratulations, celebration wishes as appropriate.

Hester, surely your employer is bound to give you an advance against unpaid wages, most do.

Catch you all soon, take care

    morning all

Not raining here - yet, but the sky is very grey :(

Made some bread in BM yesterday using my free Asda yeast, and got it right this time, it was lovely. Going into Asda again today as someone said you can get free buckets - free yeast and free buckets, I will be getting barred from Asda :D

Catowen, you made me smile about the newt, I was the newt monitor at school and used to carry the newt around with me.

Got chicken out for dinner last night, and then went to the Chinese, so put it in the fridge, so will be chicken and something for dinner.

Hope everyone has a good day x

Hi 2 Every1 who's already up and about and those still in the land of nod,

Well....... where to start? So much is going on at the mo I feel like my brain may short circuit:p I'm going to put them in good/bad lists so I can see that it's not all bad!!

    Good:

    - Mortgage provider has agreed to drop interest rate from 7.25% - 5.49% and refund the extra I've been paying:confused::D
    - Spoke to a housing benefit manager who has promised me a decision within 5 working days (has been dragging on for ages now - and they even cancelled my claim because I hadn't provided proof of maternity pay - I'm not pregnant:rotfl:  )
    - SUNSHINE!!!:T :T
    - Started getting back in to matched betting last night so may place a couple of bets this eve:cool:

    Not gr8:
    - My buildings insurance have remembered I owe them 200:eek:
    - I bought a mobile off ebay for 80 and it's restricted (seller not answering my msgs:eek::mad:)
    - I've been signed off work for 2 weeks and put on prozac:eek: (haven't taken any yet coz am very apprehensive) and feel like I'm really taking the mickey with work
    - I've got my 1st counselling appointment this morning and it's going to be a mad mad rush to get there coz walk DDs to school on Fri's

Now I've got it all out infront of me it doesn't seem like so much is going on. DD2 hasn't drawn her picture in her school book yet and I need to sign her diary. DD1 is already up and bouncing off the walls. I always try to get up, coffee'd and MSE'd b4 they wake up but I don't think I've managed it at all this week!!! I got up at 6 this morning and pottered about, the minute my coffee was done and I switched on the computer DD1 comes down!!

Lunch today will be tinned sardines/rice
Dinner today will be Cheesy mash pie (sposed to have it yesterday but I went to Iceland with the rest of my shopping budget and bought crap  - so we had pizza instead - but at least I didn't go over budget;))

    Hugs to every1 who needs/wants 1.

    Luv Jxxx
