I always understood business uses was only needed if you used your car in the course of your job.

i think that is what most people would naturally think. i dont use my car in the course of my job i just use it to get to my job.
I work for JLR at Castle Bromwich but next month I might be moved to the Solihull plant for 6 months then back to Castle Bromwich. Do I need business use on my insurance?

wouldnt have thought so because that would just be like changing job. unless there us something in the small print about having to inform your insurer if you change jobs

But I wouldn't be changing jobs, just location. Same company, same pay, same job, same everything apart from which site I was at.

well i would have to say if you dont think it is ambiguous then you dont understand the intricacies of the english language - and how difficult it is form sentences that cannot be interpreted in more than one way

I don't think you can blame the intricacies of the English language for you trying to argue that 2 sites constitutes a single place. Maybe you could start a new thread titled 'The sky is orange, and humans walk on their hands'.

no but it would be like changing jobs and i dont think there is any requirement to inform your insurer if you change jobs, because there is no requirement to tell them where you work to start with

Ignore this, speak directly to your insurer.

i am not trying to argue that two sites constitutes a single place. im arguing that commuting to a single place could be interpreted as commuting to a location and then not having to go anywhere else.

that is the situation im in. i commute to my place of work and then do not have to go anywhere else (except in the requirements of my job where i use and and am insured on another car)

I think the subtleties of the argument are lost on you

There are no subtleties, it doesn't say 'single place of work per day', therefore as the insurance is an annual agreement they are talking about a single (that's 1 if it makes it easier for you) place of work during the time you are insured with them.

    Ignore this.

You do have to notify a change of "job".

You're opinion only serves to confuse posters that are genuinely looking for help from people that have at very least a basic knowledge of the industry, which you clearly don't.
