Can't you ask the insurer concerned then?

as i've stated previously i will go the the insurer that offers the best deal when i enter class 1 - and ask them if they consider that i definately need class 1. If they say i do i will buy class 1.
It's all getting a bit tedious saying the same things to you over and over again.

if getting the same feeling saying the same thing to everyone else here over and over again - but no one is forcing you to keep posting

    - its a question of whether the wording is ambiguous - and i think we can all agree it is

Where do you draw that conclusion from?

The only way you are going to see anyone nodding in agreement with you over this will be by looking in your mirror!

well i would have to say if you dont think it is ambiguous then you dont understand the intricacies of the english language - and how difficult it is form sentences that cannot be interpreted in more than one way

As a driver they are not liable (Except for RTA) for claims should you company ask you to drive some colleagues in connection with the business under an SDP & commuting policy.

ive been there 6 years and i've never have to drive colleagues anywhere in my car
Should you take out Class One business use there's a potential for them to end up picking up claims for you driving colleagues around which is one of the reasons drivers often pay a loaded premium

well if i drove colleagues around it would be in the company car and on the companies insurance

Or is it a case that they have requested that you do have Class One Business Use

they havent approached me about it
and you don't believe you need it (I think we've all got the message that you don't believe you need it)

no - i do believe i need it. What i'm arguing is that the phrase "commute to a single place of work" is liable to confuse people in my situation into thinking they dont need it

In the Insurers eyes it matters little whether you've ever driven colleagues or whether you're ever likely to. It matters to them that they are liable for claims if they provide the class one business use to a driver and so they charge for it. That's how Insurers work

Im curious as to how you conclude that sdp&c is unambiguous and clearly not applicable to my situation but then conclude that business class – who confused explain as

And if the vehicle is being used in connection with work beyond simply commuting, then the insured will require a level of business cover

    is applicable

I might have some sympathy for your position if your argument was that neither is applicable

I always understood business uses was only needed if you used your car in the course of your job.

I work for JLR at Castle Bromwich but next month I might be moved to the Solihull plant for 6 months then back to Castle Bromwich. Do I need business use on my insurance?
