just to add the change in 2006 was an extra amount for home improvements, before this I only had 3 loans, my original amount and 2 more from the next 2 times I moved and had to increase the mortgage.
the initial deal was 5 year deal but what makes it so confusing is on the keys facts for this dated 2006 it sayd there are no early repayment charges on the 4 loans but on my 2008 mortgage statement they all have early repayment charges stated,
no wonder im confused lol,
hope this makes sense,

Sorry to pry, but we would be after start and finish dates for deals and what they went to. As much detail as possible without anything personal.0

Hi everyone, newbie here and hoping for some help. Thanks to all the posters so far in trying to make sense of this crazy situations.
I'm embarrassed to say I spent a previous life as a life and pensions consultant for a big insurance co and dealt with loads of mortgage brokers but cant understand half of this Abbey/Santander letter!
I to have a M013 letter and seems to state that they believe I have a claim. I will try and find all the necessary info but one thing I cant get my head round is on the questionnaire - what is section D4 about?? What on earth has any home improvements I have done got to do with whether i would have saved money switching loans??
Please can someone out there explain that to me!!!:j0 -
I think the reason behind the home improvement question is a statement of financial well-being for the period. You may have got a loan or saved, but it's a sign that things might be "good" financially. Just my thoughts. I know nothing.0

Hi all,
Had first letter and asked for questionairre, filled that out and send it off about two weeks ago. Yesterday had a letter telling me that they were still looking into my case.
Should I take this as a good sign as I am assuming we would have been told straight if our mortgage didn't qualify.0 -
Hi, I've just read the entire thread but I'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing. I have had a Santander mortgage since June 2008 but I'm unsure whether I would have been affected. I agreed to a 3 year fixed deal at 5.9% I remember that shortly afterwards a friend of mine bought pretty much a like for like property shortly afterwards for coincidentally the same figure and put down the same deposit but she was literally paying half what we were but we were tied into our mortgage so couldn't do much about it. If we could have switched at that time we definitely would have.
I don't have paperwork from 2008 but I do have the recent letter from October 2012 about the increase which states 'if you wish to repay any part of your mortgage which has reverted onto our standard variable rate you are not subject to an early redemption charge'
Would the same have applied in December 2008? Would I only have been able to switch without penalty if I was on SVR at that time?
