  • Hello , just found your shiny new diary and only had 4 pages to catch up on , that makes a change. Yay.
Ive been out in the garden today cutting the grass for two hours and looking at the veg plot, what there is of it,
a sorry looking globe artichoke , lots of garlic , a few leeks and chives. (you see a theme developing). a rosemary bush , and wild garlic. some grass and assorted weeds.
All things that can take care of themselves. I'll have a beetroot handout if your still offering.
    Have fun ,cheers.

:j Nice to see you too. There is a theme developing isn't there! I think you do need a bit of purple in there too so I'll fathom how to attach the handouts to my new 'growing' thingmy online and give you a shout! :T

Have fun yourself!!!! :) nice to see you :)

Hi Pippi! I know you're away right now, just thought I'd say thanks for the linkies, that twist and spout one is very stylish. I found this in my stash, while hunting for other things:
    http://www.greenfingerscharity.org.uk/promotions.html
The bottle top waterer - I have to say, sadly, it doesn't fit on any of the bottles I have available right now :( though its a great idea. I'll keep trying - there's a glass jar that currently has oil in, that might fit when I've used the oil.

Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend :)

I'm glad your inspired and do share what ever else you find. I was away and now I'm back :D Edinburgh in the spring is very lovely. It even had sunshine!

I think you might have a plan with using the oil bottle.........:T

Have a lovely weekend Pippi!!! Nothing nicer than a weekend away!:D

A paid weekend away is very lovely (well work paid the travel) - it was a blur of eating/chums/beaches/plants/ and repeat several times.

Now its back to water and bread (and cheese, lots of cheese:rotfl:)

How was your weekends ..................(Collective weekends!)

Gak!!!! I stop checking for updates for 2 minutes and now there is a shiny new diary already 4 pages old!!!

HALLLLLOOOO Pippi! Sorry I'm late to the (tea) party!

Also, I think I am one day late in saying..............

    _party_ HAPPY BIRTHDAY _party_

Let us keep calm, eat :bdaycake: and carry on with a list!

:hello: to the rest of the stripey gang too - newbies, regulars and legends - hope you are all well.

    Gotta dash,

    Greying

Hey greying - big waves back too and thanks for the cake, I promise to give you all cake and subsitute mine for bread and keep calm (as much as I can). I am now indeed older and wrinklier and no more wise. But, I'm smiling.

Birthday presents consisted of cheese (x a billion), bread (x just under a billion), chillis (5 different types and book on chilli's) and oodles of socks (dog infested or stripey) :) a great haul!

With all of your calming influences - we will be fine - all of us.

And so with calm thoughts in progress off for my list.

I'm just about to go and fetch them from their respective school/childminders. DD was so excited going into school today. Last weekend I took our church youth to a swimming gala organised by the local presbytery. DD entered her race and swam her heart out bless her. It was THE best I have ever seen her swim and I was (and still am) very proud of her. I made a big fuss of her all weekend. She went into school yesterday and told her teacher about the gala and told her how she had won a medal in her race. Her teacher was so pleased for her told her see could take her medal in today to show her class. So off she went this morning proudly showing her medal to everyone we saw. Problem is I now feel a bit of a fraud. Yes she won a bronze medal but she came 3rd out of 3 :rotfl: I can't take away her glory cos she deserves it but shhhhh she actually came last in her race what can you say???

OK, so amoung the excitement I managed to step on the scales when I was at Mr Me's house.

    NOT COOL.

I'm 2 stone heavier than when I left living in the flat in 2006. Need to do something about that, given my height (or lack of it) I'll be square like the dogs in no time.

So having forgotten about the mega over indulgence of the weekend.......

    Time to make a list

Meal plan for the week (include lunches so I don't veer from the path with those)
Freeze extra birthday cheese into decent portions
Freeze extra birthday bread *yes I got given bread too...
Pickle/freeze birthday chilis to enjoy over the coming months :)
Organise food budget for the month - we've lots in wonder if I can manage on half what we normally spend (which is about £200 ish) but not sure so need keep a keen eye on this - (money diary - must see if there's a decent 'app' for my phone?) - had a look at mse.....
Organise getting expenses back from the trip
Put work cheque into bank (it came when I was away)
Remind Mr Me he owes me £42 for a jumper
Write a couple cards and post to chums with birthdays this coming week :) from the drawer stash
Look at cc/bank and see what extra payments I can make - will wait for the last spends on ferry/petrol to be off account as they're not showing yet.
Freezer list - no clue whats in them - lots of UFO's :)
Make soup for later - current fav is a 'thai veggie/chicken' thing cheap and yummy
Walk dogs later - maybe somewhere from the house so its free
Fire on - free heat from free wood
Watch a borrowed movie before it goes back
    Skype the manchild later
Sort work clothes for back to work tomorrow
Organise emptying bag into washign machine :)
    Air dry HC once done
Empty various other bags that came home (some with strawberry palnts in, garlic plants and ? not sure must investigate)
If out check for reduced things. (:) lots of reduced veg)
FB chum about getting eggs delivered to work
Quick check of work emails see what's pressing before back to the coal face tomorrow

And so onwards - list tackling to commence................tomorrows the first of the month so meal plan I think............

    Well done Little Miss Starnac

That's awesome - the only thing I ever got 3rd for was an egg and spoon race (and there were only a handful of competitors)

Well done indeed what a clever girl!

  • Anyone recommend a good spending app for keeping an eye on things.

I've had a hunt on MSE and this one comes up....

    Spending Tracker.

    Any other suggestions?

I quite liked the look of One Budget

It really hit home how little time there is until we'll be moving - so I really want to try and get a bit of savings behind me if I can. Only way to do that is tackle the spends.

Ok done a bit of a freezer surf.

There are several UFO's in there

    :rotfl::rotfl:Unidentified Frozen Objects.:rotfl::rotfl:

    Must get better at labelling.:o

Meal plan for the week now looks like this

    Teas'
Frog in bog with beef and pork sausages (reduced/freezer)
skate wings (bought on offer/frozen) with fish broth from stock (hm) and noodles and stir fry veg
Mince/frozen - will go for a spag bog with soy mince to bulk it up and some veggies
Turkey stir fry with rice (UFO sauce in the freezer with this)
Thai chicken and veg soup - with chunky bread - made today
Bacon and pasta one night with tomato sauce (from freezer think its one of the UFO's)
    Sat out for tea :)

    Lunches/Snacks/Brekkie for work
Take in a box of reduced weetabix
    Rice cakes
First of the birthday cheeses (rest in freezer) with bread or
    Crackers (everyday multigrain are lovely)
    Cupasoups
Baked tatties (a few extra in the fridge will take to work)
Frozen birthday rolls and will take one out each day for lunch
Apples/Bananas will see what other fruit I can find reduced to top that up:)

Will need milk, fruit and juice for Mr Me.
