Grocery's - we'll aim for £200 as whilst I'm alone this week, the manchild lands home courtesy of mums-taxi on Monday and I'm currently filling the freezer with bread and other teenager delights and there will be 3 or 4 of us in the house off and on.
Petrol - we'll aim for £300-330, hoping to come in under budget but that's probably sensible this month with two trips away.
Ferries - we'll aim for £180-£250 depending on the route which allows for an egg roll on the boat each time. (Its tradition don't you know)
[There is a travel budget of £1200 for three-four trips a year put aside, but it still hurts.]
Treats - well I'm away (and I have a special treats and travel budget) so lets aim for £100 and not forget the fat face £20 voucher we have. And, take a few home made delights/local eggs for staying at chums.
Car needs tyres - at least 2 so we need to dip into the car maintenance budget.........will cost that here and then if silly will do on mainland where life is normally cheaper.
DD needs 2 weeks of buses, so she'll need £30 this month.
Anything else, I hope not??
Updated to take in to account previous sums. Thanks to El for making me see my maths didn't add up.
Ferries, well its a cost El - but there is a saving on house and car insurance, housing costs (more space for your money) and other things which cost more on the mainland.
We also don't have lots of 24/7 things which dilute folks pockets somewhat, less distractions I guess.:rotfl: I don't know how mainaldn folk manage with money, there's too much to buy.
Apart from petrol, that's very expensive here

:hello: to all! just back from a fortnights holiday on one of those islands with pricey ferries...only ours aren't quite as pricey as they used to be!
I guess your's ought to drop a bit if RET spreads up there too Pippi - although possibly just in time for you to leave!
All looking good - I hope Darwin plays by the rules and both starts being a constructive member of the family AND does it cheaply! :rotfl: Lots of fun planned with trips Sooth too - and won't it be lovely to have the Manchild home for the summer!
Food traditions on ferries are great - with coming back by the other route this time we didn't get our traditional bacon roll...might start a new tradition of Fish & Chips on that one mind you!
Fuel at Benbecula was 151.9 (diesel) and at Stornoway was 141.9 which was barely more than the mainland...this suggests that the 5p reduction is being applied in some places over there an not in others.
Wik - your Chicken Liver pate is much the same recipe as mine - I sometimes add a splash of double cream to mine in place of the butter though - depends what I've got in! Bit of nutmeg is nice too - not sure why but it really sets off the liver-ish flavour.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hope you didn't stamp *on* the mutts, Pippi
and you're very kind to chat to your tomatoes
I certainly chat a lot to my lupins, I explain that they're going to have a wonderful life, and then I metaphorically pat the heads of the chilis next to them, and tell them that they are too - they don't know what I'm going to do to their fruits tho :rotfl:
Hope your trip to fetch the Student One goes well :cool:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
