Solicitor has asked a number of questions to them in response to her Form E's
So still at the fact finding stage then, I remember DH saying it was a bit frustrating not being able to come up with a game plan at this stage so you know what you are fighting for. I suppose the solicitor is being methodical and gathering all the data before formulating a strategy.0 -

Yeah, saw that with the breakdown and everything. Just wondered whether solicitor had floated any ideas with you or not. Looks like your solicitor is keeping their powder dry for the time being, which is interesting when you consider that your ex is already putting her cards on the table as to what she wants.
Forgive me ladies for saying this but why is it that a lot of women come into divorce with a very high minded sense of entitlement. I get the whole sacrificing your career to look after the kids viewpoint, I really do, but why go for the punish the bloke by trying to take everything approach? Is it an outlet for revenge perhaps. It's like an attempt to cripple them so they don't have a secure financial future. Perhaps it's not as Machiavellian as that but it does seem like it sometimes.
It just seems to be a pattern. Don't get me wrong a lot of men behave like barstewards as well. I know a man who took half his wife's pension in the divorce, left her with a huge mortgage and two kids after running off to Nigeria with his girlfriend so she couldn't chase him for child support. She chose to keep the house going had a few very hard years but managed to keep her career on track and is now supporting herself independently.
Just pontificating, sorry to go off track Jack0 -
Had email from solicitor tonight with their questionnaire for me asking all sorts of details and questions I guess the usual things asking for all credit card statements and questions about certain things on bank statements. Guess they’re trying to establish if I’ve got any things stashed away (I wish) and obviously to discredit me with what I’ve spent on?
Also asking me to provide estate agent particulars (x5) for properties suitable for myself and the wife and children?
Provide documentary evidence of my maximum mortgage capacity
Plus loads of other stuff…So I’ll be busy for a while…Regards

In your position I'd be sending photocopies of the credit card statements, with highlights to show who is benefiting from each expenditure e.g. green highlight for your soon to be ex, orange highlight for you, blue highlight for the children. That might focus everyone's mind on the fact that you're getting into massive debt just waiting for the decisions to be made!

I would try to suggest that your maximum mortgage capacity is difficult to estimate because you do not know what your disposable income is and your current debt levels are bound to reduce it even further. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Indeed so I will have have to include that in the calculation. I guess there's something online I can use to make an estimate that includes outgoing estimate.
It's long list of requests for all sorts that will take a while to get through. Not sure I can get all credit card statements going back 12 months as all on line but will do what I can.Regards

What if you put in the current maintenance payment as your outgoing ..
Well the list mat look daunting bit the linger you will take with it theorw chances of some other issue like car maintenance or whatever else cropping up in the meantime and more solicitors letters ..The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
Would any of the old credit card statements be at the house? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Probably but most were change to electronic only. I'll just get what I can. Not sure of the point guess they want to find some evidence of a secret stash of cash, if only...
Or looking to show that I'm spending is extravagant or something to show me in a bad light in court. Does seem a big waste of time and paper work but yet again gives them a reason to charge some more!
