I know on the housing board, whenever people talk about getting rid of tenants they're told it could take months because getting the court order is only the first part, there's also the possibility that the tenant won't leave and bailiffs will have to be appointed.
I'd say that for a day it's worth hanging on. They have to go through a process - they can't just turn up with a couple of mates and chuck your stuff out (although I'm sure you'd appreciate the help!).Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Do you know if your landlords have people moving in immediately? I imagine there'll be a couple of days inbetween even if it's a quick turnaround?Mortgage when started: £330,995

You should be fine for the extra day. If you don't move out on the date of the order the landlord has to apply for the bailiffs as above. Chances are they won't check you have moved until the Friday as stated above. Thanks that link does confirm the advice I've been given:
'If you have not left by the date given in the possession order, your landlord can then apply to the court for the bailiffs to evict you.'Regards

No I don't know, I've offered to support viewings etc but not heard anything as they're changing agents to handle case. Their solicitor did reply to me saying she is talking to her client to get a response.Regards

You could ask your local court for the average time it takes when a landlord with a possession order returns to the court with a request to enforce it with court appointed bailiffs. I'm not sure if they will give you the info but worth a try.
When I've browsed the housing forum, I often got the impression that due to the volume of demand on their services, local courts can take somewhere in the region of 4-6 weeks from the day the landlord requests the enforcement of the PO to the date the court bailiffs are booked to attend the property.0 -

If anyone saw Slum Tenants & Landlords recently, it is quite clear that Jack's extra few hours will not make any difference. People who owed thousands of pounds were still living in the property. It took months and lots of heartache/further expense for the Landlords to get them out, not to mention the disgusting way they(the tenant) had left property. One of the tenants even worked in television and wasn't even a little bit concerned that she was being filmed. So, Jack, do what is necessary for the start of your new life. One word of warning. just check your Solicitor has requested the funds from your mortgage lender a couple of days before. I have know instances where completion was unable to take place because the incompetant Solicitor had 'forgotten' to do this. I wish you well - you deserve it. Sally0
