So no provision for your changing income can be made then ? And if you are broken/redundant /went selfemployed / changed job and became a postman living in a caravan you would have to apply to court to cancel SM ? Hard to believe. Well I suppose if your income changes dramatically then you may lodge court application without any solicitors and just stop paying it pending court hearing which should validate it .. I would been utterly annoyed at having to go through it again and believe it would be very reasonable to include that clause now , why would other solicitor object ?
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

Or for changing amount of dependants. . You have like 50% chance of getting into a new relationship in the next few years..

It's interesting that the divorce laws infantalise divorcing women into dependents that have to be mollycoddled and looked after, but if the female is the NEW partner she is expected to be independent and contribute to the new household.

Never quite got my head around the double standards!

That's totally normal. Apparently the courts will not take into consideration future events and you have to wait for the change of circumstances to happen then start the court process all over again.

I agree it's crazy, but that's how it is

In that case, does it open the possibility for a change to the payments when she inherits from her parents - if Jack is still paying at that stage?
