2nd approach is not to offer SM and wait for FDR judge to suggest?

Yes this is how I read it: don't offer it now seems to be preferable.

Who says solicitor has to be paid promptly. Paying with delays happens more often than other way round
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

Well I haven't worked it out yet as it depends on the credit limit. I took out a 5 year loan with my bank to pay off 2 credit cards that were at the end of 0% term. That costs around £200/m to pay off. I have the remaining £5K of debt on 2 other cards that will soon come to the end of their 0% term. So providing the credit limit on Santander card is sufficient I can do a credit card transfer (0% charge!) and use the card for purchases (i.e solicitor bill and fuel for car). It has an annual fee of £24 but I will make more than that on the 1% cash back for fuel. So need to check that the fuel deal is not linked to only certain petrol stations which would make the cash back a force economy if the fuel is priced higher compared to others. The whole things depends on credit limit but the fact I've been approved is a the key step.

So how much does it save well it saves around 4% loan cost which is what would have to do to pay of other credit cards and solicitor bill, also actuaries bill £1500+VAT, so call it £10K at 0% for 18months compared to 4% £400/year, it's actually more than that using proper APR ball park. Actually it's not a saving on what I current pay is an additional charge avoidance.

Sorry bit of a ramble bet you wished you never asked. The credit limit is a risk though when I got the Tesco card they only gave £2.5K limit, the Lloyds card was £12K so they all use different models to establish limit?

    Re solicitors
Instead of hurrying up paying their bills i might written a letter quering that bill and ask them to review it.

Thing is I did and they crossed off bits that related to mistakes that I complained about. It still ended up at £800 after that, dread to think what next bill will be as I'll be charged for the letter they sent defending my complaint..
