As you know Jack I am not familiar with all the legalities of divorce so did not feel I could give you any advice.

I have always thought that you have made the right decisions in the past and I have no reason to doubt your decision now.

I always think you have to go with your own gut feelings.

Is your court date still on course for Monday?

I have a feeling it is likely to drag on if anything is offered at this stage. At the end of the day she had maintenance for 2 years. She wants it for life , they tried to negotiate, did not get anywhere. What judge says is going to be. Unless it is grossly unfair in jacks opinion , then he may consider appeal. I would be tempted to go with other solicitors / barrister and log a complaint against present ones. As talking about the same 4 times and being charged for it does not seem right. Even if they are right formally if he makes enough noise they nay give him part of money back
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

Mind , i say "for life " - as they are both appear to be in their 50s it is not that long until pensions and their split kick in so maintenance would be for 10 years at its maximum for
    example.

We're actually late 40's but I get your point thanks.

The court date has been delayed due to actuaries report and her side not providing what acturies needed. Her side asked for 56 day delay but I suggested actuary would be ready in 28 days so should go for that. Actually the next court date available is likely to be 3 to 6 months away. frustrating that for the new date will again have to update financial disclosure which will again be charged for. In the details of the last bill they charged me £80 + VAT for copying my documents I sent by post hard copy. If I'd known I would have sent them 2 copies could have saved that !
    Regards

You just seem to be going around in circles Jack, as soon as you get a court date, you have to wait for updated financial details, the preparation of which delays the court date, which then entails yet another update on the financial front. I think we can all feel your frustration and outrage at these constant delaying tactics, especially when you consider that the amount you have spent on legal fees already, only to be at the exact same position that you were two years ago.

Hang on in there (not that you have much choice, I guess) and keep your chin up, once you get into court, I think that you won't care how the decision goes, any decision will be a relief and will enable you to move on with your life.

It might be an idea to send double or triple copies of everything to the solicitor in future though.....£80 for photocopies!
Talk about money for old rope!:mad:

My fingers and toes are crossed for you Jack.

If it should not work out just tell solicitor that you will have to go bankrupt because of all their errors and time wasting.

    Take care

Jack - and others who care for you here - please KNOW that you were all 'with' me in Paris late Sat>Sunday.

Carrying you in my thoughts, with others who wished to be there, to be part of all that Paris was throughout Sunday seemed an infinitesimal right thing....and the fact that you may disagree, think 'puke', 'stupid old cow'[became one year ancienter on the day:-)] etc.etc. is the sum of why we are all here, still for you.

Going again tonight, to buy Charlie Hebdo.

I just replied to my solicitor with the following:

In terms of Spousal Maintenanceyou are indicating that it’s not clear which approach to take, from yourguidance it would seem not to offer it at this stage would be appropriate, as Isuspect even if I offered they would contest the amount and term and still pushto FDR.

Yes sorry, that was what I meant before, I think it's the best approach for the reasons you state.

How frustrating about the court date. :(
