Hi
I just read this & thought - someone's already mentioned vinegar so I won't reply, cos that's what I use if it happens.
But then I noticed someone suggested washing soda....
Whatever other method you use, never, never, NEVER use washing soda on aluminium!!!! Washing soda eats aluminium and will damage your pan - especially if you leave it overnight.
I can only assume the person who wrote that didn't notice yours was an aluminium pan.0 -
Aaaah - had just put washing soda in & started heating up the pan as I used the last of my vinegar in the chutney & never seem to have much salt around. Thank you so much for that, I need to go to Lidl for some gin to get the damson gin going, so will stock up on vinegar again.
Thanks again.0 -
Does anyone know how to clean a burnt enamel pan please?
It's really burned black and can't use a brillo on it, so thought maybe someone would have an old style way to clean it.
thanks

Soak it in Hot Water and Biological washing powder overnight. Tomorrow the black stuff will just wipe away.

washing up liquid and salt tends to be what i use on mine - you do have to be prepared to scrub a bit though (or maybe i'm just impatient)April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530

Kim and Aggie boil some cola in the pan, for about 5 minutes.0

I put a couple of spoonfuls of salt in the pan with warm water, bring it to the boil and simmer for a couple of minutes then put a lid on and leave overnight.
