    Too late now, but kim and aggy recommend soaking in hot water with a little biological washing powder as the exzymes eat through the burnt on food...or something like that.

    It certainly worked on an old baking sheet I have.

    Hurray! The pan is clean! I never thought it would be possible (what a state it was in!). Thanks again for all the suggestions. Here's what I did, in case this can help anyone else;

    1. Boiled vinegar and a little water in pan. Scrubbed pan. Helped a bit.
    2. Soaked for a while with coke and then scrubbed pan. Helped a bit more :-)
    (Didn't have any bio washing powder so couldn't try that but think I'll get some in case this happens again :-) )
    3. Scrubbed with salt which worked really well to get the last stubborn marks off. Didn't do that straight away as the burnt layer was really thick and it would've used a LOT of salt!

    Thanks NNeave. I imagine the bio powder would work well with the enzymes. I'm definitely going to get some for in the future (in case I don't learn from my mistake :-P

    So pleased it's worked!!! :-D

    Sorry for the typo, I was thinking about the washing powder setting off my excema at the time:rolleyes:

    I'm like that in real life, I say things I'm thinking before I've finished thinking them through and often mix two or three thoughts together.:rotfl:

    dice up some onion and place in the pan and place over a low heat, keep stirring the onion round. As the onion cooks it will lift the burnt stuff from the pan. Throw onion and burnt stuff in the bin. Then wash the pan as normal and it'll come up gleaming.

    Hi!

    We had a similar thread recently so I've merged your question to it to keep the answers together.

    Thanks

    Perhaps the same, but I normally use soda crystals. When I say normally, I probably mean once a week :eek: Well, there's always something to sidetrack one! Anyway, haven't thrown a pan out yet!
