I seem to remember being told to put an inch / however so much of the pan is burnt of washing powder into a burnt saucepan. The put in just enough water so no dry powder is visible and leave overnight.
Worth a try.
If you use biological washing powder (or liquid, or tablet, or whatever you use) the enzymes in it will start to break down the burnt food. Might take quite a while and lots of scrubbing too!weaving through the chaos...0 -

i overcooked a pan once, despite loads of soaking and scrubbing, there is still smell of 'burnt'...
i would scrap it and buy a new one (check out the £1 shops!), or blag a replacement on freecycle.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
a cupful of soda crystals and hot water, leave overnight & then scrub the pan, the 'burnt' should just slide off0

Hi
I heard that soaking with cola in it will help.

I just use granulated sugar on a slightly damp wee scrubby sponge. Works wonders.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
