    Just a quickie,

When i was a farmers wife, and burnt pans , a boil up with water and rhubarb leaves did the trick, and if the jam or marmalade had caught.
have my late MIL to thank for this., as in laws were farming as well.

Well I tried the soda crystals & that helped a bit. Then I boiled it in salt & that helped a bit. Then I boiled up rhubarb leaves & that lifted a little more & then OH scraped it & it's come up lovely.

I really thought I was going to have to chuck the pan out as it was so bad.

So thanks all. I'm really chuffed as it is my biggest pan & perfect for jam & chutney making.

    Cheers.

I think next time - And there will be a next time - I'll try the bio powder as that seems to be what most of you recommend. Just have to get some.

Thanks to all - much appreciated.

I've triend this before and it really does work. Fill pan with water and add a large quantity of cooking salt and leave overnight to soak. I've burnt my pressure in the past and it's worked well for me. Good luck and hope it does the trick.
  • Thank you - will try that now before I go to bed. It was my pressure cooker he burnt and it was wedding present - albeit 22 yrs ago lol!!

Well done for looking after it so well. Hope you weren't too hard on your husband, these things happen. You might need to use a brillo pad as well but should come up as new. Let me know if it works for you.

soaking with coca-cola can be good at getting burnt food off pans
Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig
  • I sort out burnt pans by filling them with water and adding two or three teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda and boiling the water up. The soda usually lifts off most of the burnt on food.

Hope it works :T I'll add this to the existing thread which has more suggestions, just in case ;)
