I know. I am currently only repaying £1 per month to each of my creditors so when I pay something off I'm only freeing up £1 but every little helps.
Around the end of the year I should be £100 per month better off as I have been repaying a family member £100 each month as they helped me out of a sticky situation. I also have my pay rise which came through on 1st April. However, like all government employers the amount hasn't been negotiated yet. I also started a new job last week so should see a slight increase in May's pay. Don't know how much yet but whatever it is it'll be greatly received.
By the end of the year I should be better of by:
Money owed to family member £100 per month (7 months left to pay)
University course fee £49 per month (5 months left to pay)
Arrears on poll tax £75 per month (8 months left to pay)
Pay rise from new job approximately £30 per month (starting May 2014)
Annual pay rise approximately £20 per month (don't know when I'll have it)
That amounts to £274 per month - not calculated it before - something to look forward to

Have suddenly got the blues. Wherever I look something needs to be done which will cost me money. Bathroom light needs fixing, need furniture of front room, garden needs doing and it's too much for me to cope with, everyone in Facebook is checking into somewhere exciting and every pub I drive past there's people sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. HOW DO THEY DO IT?
Another bank holiday weekend and I get to choose between petrol to go out for a ride or petrol for work for the week
How can I make my millions and get myself out of this mess?12/04/2019

Hi I've just read through your diary, I'm sorry you're feeling down but hey I couldn't afford to do anything with the kids this weekend but we've been down the beach today and it didn't cost a penny. I know your kids are older but maybe you and your oh could go out somewhere local e.g. a wood, a lake anywhere that brings you some peace and tranquility.
Have you thought about posting your SOA so we can help you look over where you can make small changes, I know that no matter how much you think you have covered everything someone will spot something positive.
This might also help you to focus on which debt you are repaying at present and give you some hope of clearing a bit at a time, there's no doubt that you owe a lot but sometimes it's good to look at the small goals and they'll build into the medium and long term goals.
I've quickly learnt that people can hide a lot of things, just because they have a lot of material possessions or go out for meals and nights out does not mean that they have the finances to pay for it.
Keep going, let us know how we can help and chin up!

Thanks for the support Chrysalis. I've just gone through my gas and electricity accounts online was massively in debt with these but note that my balance is looking really good. Only owe £127 to electricity and £300 to gas. Considering I owed nearly £1400 at the beginning of the year, I've done really well. Hopefully over the next few months they'll reduce my payments - that's lifted my mood somewhat.
Have also discovered 3 possible companies that I can write to regarding reclaiming ppi. I know in years gone by I've had car finance with daewoo and black horse so have decided to write to them to see if they owe me any ppi.
Have put letter writing on my to do list for tomorrow.
I need to think more positive about things.12/04/2019

That's fab about the gas and electric and good luck with the claims.
If you need some inspiration about paying off a big debt then one of the best to search for is hypno's many diaries, she is awesome.

A pretty positive day overall. Been out the garden for a few hours and transplanted some shrubs. Have written letters to three more companies regarding reclaiming ppi and now going to start on the paperwork. I'll probably find myself writing a few more letters before the night is out but at least I'll be up to date with the paperwork.
Have also cleared all the ironing and put the stuff away
Plan for tomorrow night is to get the car boot sale stuff out of the attic, to count the pennies in my savings jar, to sort out the clothes in my wardrobes - winter clothes to go away, summer clothes to come out.12/04/2019

Have come home today to a letter for the Bank of Scotland telling me I am owed ppi.
I have to complete the questionnaire and send it back to them but it's looking positive. If I could only have enough money to pay off my brother and poll tax arrears that would make me £175 per month better off. Fingers crossed
Job tonight is to sort out my clothes so off to do that now feeling much more positive.12/04/2019

Hey there,
Just been reading through your diary. I can sympathise with your current status, I have loads to do but not enough money to pay for everything, so I have started a to do list which hangs in the kitchen (that way my OH can list all the things I need to do) and as things are added I work out whether it's something I can do you'll be surprised what you can do with some basic tools and videos off 'tinterweb.
Putting a small amount aside each week/month means I can wait til the sales weekends are on and then get the bits I need.I feel like a Pelican - everywhere I look there's a bill staring at me!LBM: March 2014 Current CC debt: All repaid 😊 Current Challenges:Tilly Tidy: 68.93/£2500 (2.75%) 3 to 6 month emergency fund0
