Another update.
Quite a few things have occurred over the past few months, unfortunately I didn't post them here. I'll do a quick overview of what I can remember.
Firstly PC World never respond to any pertinent questions, they keep repeating the same thing over and over like a broken record. It doesn't matter if you mention that what they are doing is illegal, they don't care, they know how difficult and time consuming it is to take them to court. Lesson learnt here is NEVER do business with PC World.
After protracted wranglings with Sony, yes I know I shouldn't be dealing with them directly but as I mention PC World will do *nothing* for you, they have decided to repair my laptop for free and extend the warranty. The laptop is now 14 months old, even though I only had use of it for 3 months. Yes, this has been going on for 11 months now! They have to confirm the length of the warranty, but it won't be a year (very strange). I get nothing else in compensation, nothing for not having use of it for almost a year, nothing for now having an old laptop (it has since been replaced by a newer model, and when I bought it, it was the new model), nothing for all the stress it has cost me and nothing to compensate for the fact that I had to buy another laptop (I needed it for work).
So, even though there is some resolution, it's scant really, compared to all the effort it has cost me. Considering that the unit failed due to (they say liquid damage), I say poor construction. I'm not going to be very comfortable using it, it will most likely develop the same fault soon. I have 5 Sony products, but that's the last of them that I'm going to buy. Take from my experience what you will.
Kind regards,
Julian0
