Pania, I bought a new build house and was lucky as managed to negotiate a 10K discount on it (Thanks to my Dad, as they couldn't start selling second phase until first phase was sold). But word of warning new builds are not for the faint hearted. I had 132 defects with mine and fought for 3 years before they were all fixed. Thankfully I didn't have too many serious defects in my house like some others. Like Brenda says be wary of the too good to be true deals. In the second phase of where I live the houses that had a deposit paid, carpets throughout etc were 4K more expensive than the same ones in the first phase. Do you really need to move right now? If so maybe try to get same deal I did and look for an estate where phase 1 is wrapping up and haggle!!!!

Anyway popped in to say another 6.15 added to my total (Ciao finally paid out)

sorry guys back now just had to let off steam.
Ok well had the full confessional from OH today. I have to admit i now know how it feels to be on the other side of the fence. Not mega loads of debt but more the state of the bank account.
ended last month £350 over the overdraft limit, incurring charges again of £175, he's currently averaging btwn £130-200 in charges per month, Now has £30 left to last the month after bills.
owes an urgent £2500 on his car which is being demanded back (family) or not going to be welcome and cannot get even a small loan for £3000 to pay back overdraft and clear charges to put him on an even keel again and to repay family.
It just feels totally !!!!!! to know all this and have no way to be able to help. My heart hit my boots when i found out.
I have supported and paid his way so much over the last few months to the detriment of my own debt payments and have just matched betted £100 for him to give him £150 return which i couldn't afford to do and have skinted myself for this month in the process. I just don't know what else to do to help him and keep myself afloat at same time. I know everyone has to hit their LBM at their own time but why oh why did it have to be just as i was getting things straight?
I will always be there for him and always sacrifice things to help him but i thought i saw light at the end of the tunnel. Fat chance.

Oh pania, I'm sorry to hear that. I can completely sympathise.

My OH is a walking disaster with money and I am having to bail him out once again.

It's horrible isn't it. Wish I could hug you. Keep talking to him and you will find a way through, well I hope you do.

thanks for that seaxwyn, i just keep trying and trying to help him, i gave him £50 and paid for most of the food last month, £100 and copping the food again this month. Currently worrying how i'm going to get to all my appointments with the minimal petrol i have. Think i'm going to do as much matched betting as possible to boost it at least a bit.
He only has £800 debt in total plus overdraft and charges but credit score is so low as he's had nigh on 15 checks done in 3 months!! you know when you really want to say i told you so? Right need to get to see a client, see you all this evening, and if anyone wants to drop a million pounds through my door while i'm gone..... ;-)
Thanks for allowing the grumble. I've been really good lately!

Hi P, sorry to read that things have been so yuk today.

All I can say is, he has had his LBM now, and at least this means he is on the right track - you just have a head start. This would be so much worse if he was still having his head in the sand attitude. You can work together now on this - if nothing else, it will make him realise how tough things are for you on a daily basis.

You know where I am if you need hun x
