Every cloud has a silver lining. The item of clothing was a pair of cut down trousers. A friend cleared out her wardrobe and found a pair similar unworn with the tag still on. She had plans to give them to me before the trouser-gate.
Wasn't the same friend was it? Friend is standing with you. Bag with trousers gets stolen from right next to you, and the only person that you've seen around is your friend. Friend suddenly announces 'Oh, I have a pair of trousers, still with the tags on, that look like the ones you had stolen when you were stood next to me. Want them?'0 -

Different friends. One of them was a former classmate who I have not seen for 3 years and another is a friend who I speak to least three times a week.
The trousers my friend had were from Matalan0 -
Although I find this whole situation quite "funny", that someone was busy gassing in a car park while their shopping was stolen, we have to look at facts here.
Asda ultimately does not have any liability. There are two parties involved in the incident - the customer, who may or may not have been negligent, and the thief, who is the real culprit here.
The car park may well be Asda's property however any liability the store has would not (and correct me if I'm wrong here) extend to the actions of a third party. In this case the third party was the thief and the action was them pinching the bag.
However I see it was a heat of the moment anger thing.0 -

Reminds me of a joke.
Woman goes into a police station and says she'd like to report her husband missing. She gives the police a description of 6ft, dark hair and handsome. The policeman stops and says ma'am, I've met your husband, he's short fat and balding. I know she says, but who wants him back? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
