  • Not much to update today, spends yesterday £3 on a Fathers day card, sadly my dad is no longer with us, but I will be thinking about him today and I might blast out a bit of Queen for him to enjoy ( one of his favourite bands and i always think of him being around me).

Managed to get to 1010 points with GTM, whoop whoop I though, but no now they have changed to system I need 1087 to redeem paypal:mad:, so a few more surveys to do.

DH asked if he could go to a fishing event today, couldn't argue as it is Fathers day, anyway he said he would just take DS, as he thought it would be nice to spend a couple of hours just him and DS as he had spent yesterday morning with DD. I think DD was secretly relieved she didn't have to wander around looking at hooks and fishing rods :rotfl:. but she was very polite and said its ok dad its your day:rotfl:.

SO DD is going to make a choc cake whilst they are out for pudding tonight and ice Happy Fathers day on it.

It's funny how different people celebrate things differently I was talking to a collegue on Friday, she was telling me about all the things that she had bought for the children to give to their DAD, Aftershave, dvd's and a shirt, she must have spent over £100:eek:, yet DH prefers the a HM card and a choc cake and time with the kids, it's funny what other people think is important, (sorry thinking out loud here).

I agree about people's take on Father's Day. My DH is happy with just a card, he knows our two can't really afford much on their wages. However, he will be pleasantly surprised later.

Well done on your Sainbobs shop. I have a voucher to do a first on line shop with them, £12 off £60, so I may do a search later this month, see what they do cheaper and stock up. I'm not a very loyal customer, I just go for the bargains.

Hope you have a great day.

  • I think most of us would agree with you on here regarding Father's Day. I've never gone in for it massively but I did used to spend more than I currently do (this year I spent £13 on a blu-ray & back, neck, shoulder massage, card was HM) I have friends who have bought their hubbys cards, wine, choc, clothes, gadgets and all sorts! my poor dh only got his treats as the blu-ray was nearly new ;) and the massage is by a friend who has just done her beauty therapy qualifications at college lol....

My dad also likes Queen, he's still with us but only got pictures and a card & a text! xx

  • Hi DFW the massage was a nice idea.

Hi wifeandmummy welcome to my diary and thanks for posting.

DH was talking about christmas earlier:eek:, I've told him I don't want an actual present off him and the kids, the best present would be to pay for us to go somewhere local for christmas lunch, no cooking, no washng up and no trailing around the supermarket on xmas eve like a headless chicken and most of all no stress, he thought this was a nice idea.

We've done Xmas dinner at a local restaurant before. We only stopped as they closed down and you can't guarantee the weather to travel very far here. It was lovely though, relaxed mornings opening presents, lovely food and then relaxing evening. Hope you get a chance to try it.

The only downside of eating out on Christmas day is that there are no left overs to pick at later ! lol
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..
  • I agree re Father's Day. DH got a personalised card from the boys (which I only ordered as I got a 50% off code so it cost £2.09 delivered!), home made cards and a dvd which whilst new was only £5.99 as it's an old film. I suppose that's the benefit of memory loss, never remembering older films and watching them again like they are brand new!! The most important part of today for us has been going out all together (for a free day at the park in the sunshine!

My Dad isn't with us anymore either but he only ever got token gifts too bless him.

I've never been out for Christmas Day lunch but I've waitressed it in a restaurant before at 16. I suppose the tips made it more worthwhile, but I always said never again as it was so stressful!

    Morning Pennywise,

Glad you had a nice day yesterday!

Oohhhh Christmas dinner out would be lovely! Only thing is my DH gets very disappointed if things are too his liking and if something wasnt right he would just ruin the whole day with his sulking (stupid man !) so its better for us to stay at home haha!!!! xx

I hope you get to go out for Xmas dinner - we looked into it last year at our favourite carvery and it was £65 per person :eek::eek:

I decided that as there were 4 adults and 1 child I couldn't justify spending that kind of money and I would be so gutted if the food was not nice.

The pub get booked up quite quickly so people obviously pay for it.
