  • Hi Penny, great that the hound is back home and happy:j, :eek:to the vets bill.

On the food thing, have you had a look at 'a girl called Jack' and 'frugal queen' s blogs? Jack is very low cost and portions are tiny but some great ideas. Frugal Queen is much more meat based, she seems to get loads of meat cheaply and makes man sized meals!
Wish we could get cheaper meat but i like the fact it's the farm a couple of miles away that supplies Costco and their beasts look very healthy!

  • Morning and what a bright and beautiful one it is.

Plans today are to have a NSD, catch up on washing, sort work bag.

Cooking is on the agenda, pizza dough to make, going to make extra and freeze some bases so they are there for quick teas or for when we want garlic bread for with pasta, also cakes need making for lunch boxes.

I have been through survey sites this morning and there is a couple that I am close to pay out on, typically with these site though the surveys dry up at this point, 2 items are on ebay but to be honest I think these are only 99p items.

Have so much whooshing around my head, debt, poorly dog, kids and general life, feel as though i'm dropping the balls and feeling out of control.

Off to check onepoll then hang out some washing.
  • how is the dog today hun?

I am at the same point as you on 2 survey sites. I logged on to both and both had enough to get me over the £10. I did one and went back to the available surveys and they had both disappeared or had filled their quota or I wasn't suitable (happened on 2 sites) i hate them with a passion. It will be an MSE way I drop when DF i can assure you ;)

I hope things seem more manageable soon I often feel like i'm about to drop all the balls i'm juggling...and in September I'll be adding a job to everything that will be fun i'm sure! xx

  • Hi DFW, dog is ok but won't leave me, I have put some blankets in the kitchen and her bed in the front room, she just follows me from room to room, lies down and goes to sleep.

I'm back at work tomorrow, 7 weeks to go until we break up for summer:).
  • Morning, back to work and school today, shame with this nice weather I've enjoyed sitting in the garden, oh well 7 weeks until summer hols please please let the sun shine this summer.

Thought I was going to have a good day as I've pegged out,got another load on which I should get out before work, managed to complete a survey and redeem £50 from youg*v:D (that's been a long slog) shame its going towards vets bill and not next but ha ho its £50 off a bill.

Just checked banking, no rent money:mad:, should have gone in yesterday, gave it an extra day just in case and nothing, really not happy, of all the months for this to happen, will get hubby on to it later.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun, off to get showered and find something summery to wear.
  • morning, up early this morning to try and catch up on some surveys.

Yesterday was another NSD only because I forgot to pay for school dinners, whoops I must do that today.

Hubby chased up rent and apparently its on its way, will give it until Friday, if its not in account by then i'm gonna get mad .

Really loving this weather, just hope it continues.

Trying to remain focused on the positive things that I'm doing to save/make money - so today..............

    Eco wash - peg out
    2 items ebaying
    surveys
    packed lunches for everyone
set off 5 mins earlier for work - drive more economically.

I have never felt more determined to sort out the money we owe, but I need to also strike a balance and enjoy the children before they are too old.

Hope everyone has a good day..x.
  • Good morning, another bright sunny one today.

I've taken some pork steaks out of the freezer for tea tonight, going to marinade them and have them with rice and salad tonight nom nom:D.

Yesterday wasn't a nsd, paid for todays school dins, nipped into sainsbugs on the way hoe from work to get DS some school shorts and then ended up buying fruit which we needed and snacky bits which we did not:mad:, total spend £29.69 need to get a grip.

Today will be a nsd, I've got left overs for lunch and have no reason to enter a shop, or go online to purchase anything.

Rent money has gone in :jand a couple of direct debits have let account have updated snowball calculator and this has brought me a month closer to debt freedom, just 57 to go then:eek:.

Must go and get children up and get ready for work, anyone else struggling to get children to sleep at night at the minute, I put it down to the light nights, but their bedrooms are really dark and have lined curtains. Maybe they are just being monkeys:rotfl:.

    .

I think this is a problem a lot of us face. I think if I didn't have the kids I would have taken hold of the finances (DH on board OR NOT) and would have had this debt paid off by now. BUT as you say balance is needed and my 'babies' are no longer babies. I've been in debt since the last 2 were born (and on and off since the eldest has been around!) and it's awful not being able to give them things, take them on days out etc. If there is one thing I will give to my children though it will be a budget sheet :rotfl: and instructions on how to use it :rotfl:;)

  • I know what you me DFW, sometimes I think about how little I could live off and how much money I must of wasted before children.

Trying to do cheap/free things with the children at the minute so this weekend I've cancelled DD pony club on sat morning as my DH work mates wife (hope that makes sense) is away today/tomorrow and has asked DH to sort her horse out for her and that DD could ride it if she wanted, so explained this to DD and she was not bothered at all about missing pony club as long as she could still ride :D, saving me £25 :j.
Sat afternoon both children are having friends to play, so nice and cheap as the weather is supposed to be nice, so they can play outside and have hot dogs and ice cream for tea.

Sunday we are going on a bike ride and taking a picnic.

Yesterday I managed another NSD and should e another one today, have received £1.29 from quidco and have a couple of bids on 2 items on ebay which end tomorrow.

Is anyone else finding surveys really slow at the minute? I seem to be getting hardly any

Hope everyone has a good day, can't believe we are back to the weekend already.
  • Good morning and its another good one.

Up and about early this morning, the sun was streaming through the curtains so got up at 5.30am:eek:. Does mean I've got lots done, 4 loads of washing, one lot of that was bedding from both kids beds.
All drying out on the line, I've even had to hang t shirts on hangers and hang them from the back of chairs and the garden gate, but the sun is drying them and thats all that matters.

Also been busy in the kitchen, potato salad, cheese and onion quiche and a lemon cake all made :D.

Only thing left to do is to clean bathroom and hover upstairs and then i'm all done and going to sit outside for the afternoon.
