Yes - I 'only' get 5 weeks though. I was planning on haveing 2 weeks at the end of mat leave. I did think about having a week at the start too but can't see much difference between struggling through 2 weeks instead of 3 and I really want as much time as possible after Bean has arrived.

Of course early deliveries are not unusual in our family so Bean may just decide it all for me...

I would like as much time as possible... If we get lucky anytime soon, I woulnd't be going back to work till 2010 (how good does that sound!!!) and my anual leave is not transferable, so I would be taking every single day of it before, I think. Unless htye made an exception.

And they are still picketing to get 3 years 100% pay... I am so envy how lucky they are. Yes, salaries maybe lower, but it still is much better than getting nothing here after 9 months on the leave (or ~£100 per week after the first 6 weeks...) Oh, and if you get twins, the money gets double!!!!!

OMG - where you from - I'm moving!!!:D I nearly died when I found out a) how little you get here and b) that they TAX it!!!

Well I've put a proposal to the partner and relevant managers here. If they're agreeable I will be off from 19 Jan to 11 September (incl 19days annual leave) which gives me enough days to take a long weekend in Oct/Nove AND have a decent break for Xmas.:j

Have moved me from EDD to births list - Laurence James arrived 2 weeks early and weighing in at 7lb 9oz - I was so chuffed he was early as it is my DD b.day on 9th August and was really paniking as he was due on 11th and I had visions of me going into labour half way through pirate party!

I am from Lithuania, it is good a law, isn't it?... I wish at least they paid double here if you had twins, as it seems highly unfair... You only get time off once and you are only paid the same!!! Some saving for the government... (I am afraid to have twins, had fraternal ones in both OH and mine families...) I warned my OH, that I will be taking 9 months off, he will have to eat less if needed and walk his 25 miles to work if needed!!!!
