a few drops of tea tree oil lessens the smell when you lift the lid!

Here's a tip I got from here which really does work (I use, well I haven't need them for a while but that's beside the point, cloth san pro so I've had experience of bucket based excitement!) dip a cotton bud in tea tree oil then stick it inside the lid of your bucket, that way you it doesn't get soaked up by the first thing in there and you have a lovely fragrant bucket! (An alternative is to stick a pantyliner there instead with tea tree oil on it, I think that way you can keep refreshing it!) :D

Anyway, names! Another keeping them a closely guarded secret! We had however got boys names all sorted and ready with our little short list and then we'd see what he looked like. Go for the 20 week scan and get told it's probably a girl! Back to the drawing board! Our girl's shortlist is very short, well, it's kind of one name atm but I'm trying to pretend it's longer!

    morning all,

thanks so much for all the opinions re cloth/disposal nappies. hubby is still on the disposal nappy line, but i am not sure. i like the easiness of the disposables, but feel i am letting myself down if i don't use the cloth ones.

the problem with me is i tend to be a perfectionist in relation to certain things and expect too much of myself, and i am wondering whether i will be able to cope with cloth nappies, a new born baby and all the joys that will follow.

have a long way to go yet, so will try and put it out of my mind for a while and reassess the situation later.

Re nappies. I do intend to use reusables as they are piles cheaper and I like the idea of saving the planet. I do have a couple of packets of newborn nappies which I will use at first as I am a complete novice and have never changed a nappy before. My mum says that she will help me out with reusables as she used them on me until I developed some kind of reaction to something on them.

Re names. Me and bf have had our name for a girl since we were 18! That's 9 years ago now, so we really have to go with it. But we are both still set on it, so that's okay. My mum's friend told me how she chose her daughter's name. Half her name and half her hubbie's name (Roman+Anna=Romana). We thought it was fantastic and sat there working out variations on our names and there is a lovely girl's name that just works. Lucky that we found our we are having a a girl really.

My DD has picked a girls name that's the first half of her bfs name then second half of hers.It is an actual name, but my mum hates it, so we're trying to bring her round, as DD wont budge;) :D

Heehee, I would have asked if you were my mum, except it's the first half of my name, then second half of bf's name! What is it that you have chosen, or do you not want to say on here?

Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored! I've had enough of daytime telly now.

Things have really calmed down here and I'm hoping to go into work tomorrow. However, midwife has said to rest until scan on Tues but then relented and said I could go in as long as I don't lift anything (ha, no filling the kettle and making the tea for me!).
  • Oh, elle, its Friday tomorrow so don't bother going in! ;) :rotfl:

I'm pottering about here myself. Mum has taken Poppy out for the afternoon so I can have a little rest but so far I've washed and hung out two loads of washing, stripped the bed and hoovered!. Time for a Mars bar and feet up me thinks :D.

elle, don't go into work. i appreciate you are probably bored senseless, but it's only until tuesday.

i can't believe how many questions are running around in my head and i am only 9 week tomorrow. i really wish i didn't have the personality to over think everything and was just able to go with the flow.
  • I have just popped into the bosses office for 20 minutes and had a catnap - he wasn't there lol. Bubba must be having a growth spurt today because I am unfeasibly tired again. I thought I was coming through that bit!

Anyway, it seems to have done the trick for now. Hopefully I will last til hometime! Just wish I had asked my colleague to wake me up with a cup of tea :D

elle_gee - just be glad that you are having a lovely quiet, uneventful week, I would do anything for a week of daytime tv at the moment....okay - I wouldn't choose to have the scare you had but you know what I mean :p

Edit - AngelFairy - write all your questions down and deal with them one at a time...in my experience it is the only way to deal with anything!

    Hello ladies!

Im off to see the lovely midwife again tomorrow, and then we've got a scan booked with the consultant on Tuesday. The midwife wants to discuss my birth plan tomorrow-eek!

My fathers daughter-the sleep thing hasnt improved for me, i still get tired really quickly and often have naps in the day!
