I had my quads test back last night, it gave a risk of 1 in 340 as opposed to the 1 in 270 i had with the triple test. I do feel much happier especially as the consultant who did the scan (he's well known in his field) dectected absolutely no abnormalities. He said that the odds then could effectively be reduced even further to 1 in 680 which I feel much happier about. I can relax again and enjoy the pregnancy.

thanks. i used 25 strips in two days and ran out. had to get some more today finally. doctors but me on tablets instead of insulin injections. scan went well, he is normal size, everyone is pleased about that, he is breach at the monemt but he got 5 weeks to turn, if he can : -) got another scan in two weeks.

Hi all. I had my first midwife appointment yesterday. I'm only five weeks so have got to go back in three weeks for the rest of the booking appointment.

A few questions I forgot to ask... When they say "no heavy lifting", how heavy is heavy? Also, what are the deciding factors for having a planned caesarean? I'm not set on either way, but I'm a size six normally with very slim hips and I just wondered if that would be factored in. (Ideally, I'd have a natural water birth, but I'm not holding out much hope!).

Morning

Just a quickie. Haven't keep up to date with threads yet, but though I'd post this as hopefully someone will answer before I ring up (and I'm supposed to be working, oops!)

I got my antenatal class appointments through in the post yesterday. They start when I'm 37 weeks! Run for 4 weeks and my last class is the day before I'm due! Is it just me, or is that leaving it all a bit late? Thinking about ringing up again today and asking for the classes to start 2 weeks to a month earlier, or if it's all full, to go for the one day course on a Saturday.

Or do you think it's normal to have classes that late and they'll try and fob me off by saying that first babies always come late. If I give birth at 38 weeks, I'll have had 2 classes at the most and the third class involves a tour of the maternity unit. What would you do?

Polly, if it was me I'd ring up and ask to change if they can! Turns out we don't have hospital classes anymore but my hospital tour is booked for 34 weeks (although I think she might have just picked a random week that sounded about right!) and I start my community ante natal classes at 30 weeks (but they're only little so no booking involved). Good luck!

I have the insulin jabs and tbh they are ok, I don't find them as painful as the finger jabs tho I think that may just be shock with them cos it makes me jump when it clicks :rotfl: Remember to ask them as many questions as you want to ease your mind.

I'm getting nervous now, 10 days to go til induction day! I have been told I am going to be hooked up to an insulin drip while I am labouring and giving birth, but that I will be fully mobile with it which is a relief as I really would not want to be in bed for all of it.

Glad the scan went well and that baby is normal size, it puts your mind at ease when you can see them floating around fine. 5 weeks is plenty of time to turn yet, tho it does feel quite wierd when they turn later on in pregnancy. It gives me a sudden feeling of like travel sickness or sea sickness, but it soon passes.

thanks bethom, i am sure you will be fine, you sound like a strong person, just think in ten days your baby will be in your arms.

i think i have gone past the point of worrying, hopefully, after OH and son giving me so much stress am thinking about this baby and wandering if better to bring it up myself.

Thanks for that. I rang up and left another message. It would be so much handier if there were just people there to answer the phone! My tour of the unit is the third lesson, so when I'm 38 weeks 6 days. That may be too late.

My mum went into labour with me at 33 weeks.

I have one more question today. Does anyone else have a pain that is in the bum/high leg/back pelvic area? It's like severe cramp or dead leg, and is bad enough to stop me walking. I have to stand still for a bit and kinda wiggle about. But it's only when I stand up from sitting down. Once I walk around for a bit, it fades away. Is it a trapped nerve or something?

Can i join please, I was thinking about actually joining TTC instead of just reading along this month but it turns out that I am expecting already.

I already have a 4 yr old, any tips on how/when to tell her welcome!
