Hello everyone!
It feels like ages since I last posted, and it's probably only a few weeks yet things move so fast on here!
Congrats to all those with new BFPs and to those who are proud to announce their new arrivals!:j
I had my 21 week scan last week and everything was just perfect. I can now relax and enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. Get some more sneak previews too as I'm being given growth scans. Woohoo!0 -

Congratulations JoJo on the birth of Iris - it is a beautiful name.
September baby congratulations on your news!
Hi all
My morning (and afternoon and evening!) sickness is still going strong and ended in me having to go to the doctors wasn't keeping anything down for days and was getting dehydrated. The doctor prescribed two buccastem tablets twice a day. He assured me they were safe but me being a paranoid first timer I have been looking on the internet to find out more about them.
I have taken them and over the weekend they have changed my life I am now eating and keeping it down. My diet isn't very varied and can still only manage dry toast, dry cereal and funnily enough micro chips! Weird!
I took two tablets the first day and then only took one which still seems to be doing the trick. Just really wanted to know if anyone else had heard anything about them or had them prescribed before?
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Birth story: I was admitted after having a BP check and told I would probably be induced in the next day or so. I was happy with this, what with not knowing what an induction was like! Had a sweep after being admitted and hoped this would do the trick, but no joy there and at 8.30pm on the 16th April I was taken into the Labour ward and given the prostin gel.
HGubby was sent home as the midwives were fully expecting me to need a second dose a few hours later, but I started getting contractions straight away. The midwife allocated to me dismissed this, saying I was just getting "twinges" - which freaked me out as I was finding them difficult to cope with. Asked her to help me put the tens pads on and she looked at me like i was mad, saying "you don't need that yet". By this time I was hating my midwife and felt like she viewed me as a wimp or something. So what if i want something for the pain already you $*&£$$%%!!!!!!! I explained that it was good to have the tens on in early labour as it builds up the level of endorphins in the body and so helps with pain later on - why I should have to explain myself though I don't know.
Anyway, then I had a massive contraction and my waters went (this about 30 mins after the prostin) so they took me more seriously then. I didn't have time to get used to the contractions or have any build-up, they were just hugely intense from the start and 1 minute apart so no respite inbetween. I had to ask mw for pain relief, she didn't offer. Asked for gas and air and she said to have pethidine straight away - fine, whatever, can I just have it then? She wanders off and doesn't come back for 20 minutes, and when she does it is without the pethidine. In the meantime I've rung hubby to come back, could barely speak down the phone, just yelled "get a cab!". So it was nice knowing he was on his way to stop me from strangling this cow of a mw.
At this point a doctor came in, examined me, and established baby was back to back, which was something I'd been dreading and explained a lot of the pain. She didn't ask me if I wanted an epidural, just said she was getting the anaesthetist down straight away. I was glad I wasn't given the option, that someone could see I was clearly in pain I couldn't cope with and was doing something about it!!! The relief of knowing something was being done was huge. The mw finally gave me some gas and air at this point to tide me over.
Then she tried to put a canula in my hand before ringing the anaesthetist. It was supremely frustrating watching her cack-handed efforts, knowing that I wouldn't get the epidural till she managed it. She took 20 minutes of attempting it before admitting she couldn't do it and calling for the epidural anyway. At this point she was called away to another birth and a lovely new mw took over who actually looked like she cared about what she was doing. Thank God! By this time my contractions were getting very "pushy" which was frightening me as I knew I couldn't be dilated enough to push already. I was scared my body was going to involuntarily push and rip me in two! An exam revealed I was 3cm dilated, and the midwife mangaged to "stretch" me to 5cm. This was by 10.30pm so we were making good time - those massive contractions were doing the job lol.
I went into zen mode when the anaesthetist arrived. Trying to stay still while in the middle of a contraction so the needle wouldn't go into the wrong space in my spine took a lot of strength and concentration! Hubby was brilliant at keeping me calm and focused, especially as he could see all the weird needles and instruments behind me lol. When it was done I could feel the difference very quickly. I could still feel the contractions but they weren't agonising, and in fact it was good to not be totally numb as when it came to pushing I could still feel what I was doing.
The next couple of hours passed in a nice cloud of gas and air, with legs in stirrups and 3 people (doc, trainee doc, and mw) poking around my bits. It was so nice not to be in agony. Around 1.30 I was fully dilated and started pushing, thinking "yippee! this is the quick bit!".
2 hours later after being incessantly told to "imagine you're doing a really big poo" I finally managed to get the head out. This was about 2 pushes after I'd given up and shouted i wasn't doing this anymore. The rest of iris shot out straight after the head, whistling through the air. Three pairs of arms shot out to catch her and she was slithered screaming onto my chest. She stopped crying very quickly though, and it was lovely having a get to know you chat with her to take my mind off the stitches and the placenta-tugging.
All worth it in the end! Major lesson learned - epidurals are god's gift to women.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
