hi Carol9uk - i posted several months about amnios. my blood results came back as 1 in 180. We waited over a week for our 20 week scan before making any decision. The scan didn't show any downs markers which was good but i was still worried and went ahead the following day with the amnio. The amnio itself wasn't too painful at all and the results were back within about 3 days which was good. Fortunately for us the results came back negative and after about 2 weeks we got in depth results and all were fine. It is a very emotional time and only you know what you need to do. The advice i can give is that if you are going to spend the rest of your pregnancy worrying about this then it might be worth having the test. I don't know what your blood results are but obviously that is also a big factory. You also need to consider if you could cope with a downs baby and what you would do if you found out you were carrying one. For me i would have seriously considered a termination. Nobody else can make the decision for you, in fact in my case my OH didn't want the test so it was my decision to go for it. Best of luck and if you have any specific questions that i might be able to help with please ask.

hi had a phone call frm my midwife today got to go back to hospital tomorrow for the amnio test. feeling very weepy.

    has anyone had this test?

I think its a bit like the CVS (i think its called that) test that i had at about 12 weeks where they put a needle into your tum and draw off some fluid for testing. At the time i was 35 and the bub was at a high risk of having downs so the scanner woman (sorry cant remember the technical term) asked for the consultant to come in and all i remember thinking was "oh its that bloke off the telly!" :) At the time i was watching every baby programme on the telly and this guy was on a documentary which was filmed at Kings College.

He was really nice and i was crying like a baby but in a mo it was over and a couple of weeks later (while i was watching Eastenders) i got the all clear :)

    Fingers crossed for you

thanks i am having the test tomorrow, i have had a feeling something was wrong, havet felt him/her move as much this week, but i have put that down with normal worries. i have always said i would have a T. i have a son with special needs already and it wont be fare on him and me and OH dont have a normal relationship has he has got the same as my son.

feel like its my fault as i have had laptop on my knee , dont know if the give of waves like moblies, stop doing it two weeks ago when i thought about it.

carol9uk - please don't blame yourself - chances are the amnio will be OK. Can't see that having a laptop on your knee would make difference whatsover. Really hope everything goes OK for you - please let us know how you get on. Sounds like you are having a difficult time at the moment anyway, but please don't beat yourself up about things

:grouphug:Carol. I'm sure everything will be just fine. Have your bloods flagged something or is it because of your age or your son's special needs? Are they just being extra cautious with you? Lots and lots of good luck for tomorrow xxx

    Congrats and welcome miss-piggin.

Hi, Septemberbaby - hope you are baby are ok. You give us all hope that we will have time to browse the net after having our babies.

Another moan, feeling very let down by people who are supposed to be helping me, who i would expect to help me and reassure me and help with childcare. Not naming any names but i really want to feel that when i go into hospital my kids are being cared for - but the main person who should be doing this seems to go out of their way to make me worry more. That probably makes no sense at all but i am feeling really let down. I try not to worry this person and they don't know anything about my OCD or depression. Blooming hormones - i am just dwelling on everything and so emotional. I might change my name from 3KIDS to moaningmum or something.

For anybody dreading having a sweep, it wasn't painful at all. Started to bleed a little from having it now though. Does anyone know if piles clear up almost straight after having a baby?

i'll probably be on later for another moan.

can i go on the due date list please? at the moment im due on september 24th but im huge already even though im only 11 weeks tomorrow. i have a scan a week on friday and i wont be suprised if they dont bring my date forward or say its twins. i really am so big i cant stop eating so iv 10 pounds on already but hoping once everything settles down i can calm my eating wich will ease the weight gain. i dont think its all food though as my tummy looks about 5 months gone and my boobs wont stop growing but i can still fit in my low cut jeans just gone up about 2 bra sizes.
also has anyone else started making milk this early on? the other day i saw one boob had leaked then managed to get milk out the other one without much effort. thats why i think i might be further on.

Hi, apparently you show earlier if its your second or third etc, more early then your first baby.

I feel quite worried that i dont seem to be having as many symptoms as some people though, at 11 weeks and 4 days, i dont look that big at all, my boobs are only a tad larger, and only put on a pound so far lol. I know i am probably worrying over nothing but still. if i hadnt had my scan yet-it d be hard to believe theres a little baby in there :o
