  • Congrats Ukbandit - enjoy your little bundle of joy.

Alison6692 - I hope everything goes really well for you today.

Nicci985 - we haven't heard from you in a while, I hope all's going well for you too.

3kids - How are you today?

Well I'm back from the antenatal clinic and I'll be returning there tomorrow, Monday and Wednesday for monitoring to make sure Ember's all ok inside me. I managed to fight off being induced, thankfully and as long as everything remains ok then they'll let her come out of her own accord. Did you know that you can refuse induction after 14 days as long as the baby's ok? I didn't till a friend told me! Some women go up to 20 days over their due date and give birth naturally with no problems at all!

Also Ember isn't even engaged at the moment (only 3/5th) so she's not even ready to go yet. It was also a bit of a trial standing up to the Doc and midwife saying that I didn't want to be induced. They kept telling me of the associated problems but of course they come from a precautional point of view, as that's how they've been taught. Doesn't make it easy to stand up to though and I felt quite proud of myself for doing it and going with what I want to do.

Of course if Ember isn't ok then I'll need to be induced but she feels totally healthy to me and she's still jigging around lots. So back to the waiting again! Although I don't mind now as she'll come when she's good and ready. Thanks for all of your support and well wishes. xxx

  • Hi miss_be - good for you for sticking up for yourself, that's a really hard thing to do. As long as Ember is ok i think you are right to stick up for what you want. At least they are keeping an eye on you and Ember. I am feeling a little bit lost at the moment as i haven't had an appointment for 10 days and haven't got one until next tuesday. Baby is still moving about although definitely not as much - i know i would feel better if he was being monitored. Body wise i am feeling quite fit at the moment which has really surprised me. my baby wasn't fully engaged at my last visit - but as it isn't my first child apparently they don't always engage until you are in labour. You're 9 days over now - you are obviously not fed up enough to want to be induced. I am only 1 day over and if i could put my feet up until he decided to make an appearance then i would be happy to sit and wait but as i am constantly clearing up after 3 kids and my OH i don't think i can wait.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Sob! I wasn't added to the list

    Due date: 8th October 2008

Are they any good TV programmes I can stick on record to watch when I get in from work.

I found some on a baby channel, but all of them (had three different ones - pregnancy&birth, 0-12 months etc) consisted of a woman sitting on the sofa talking to other women on the other sofa and it just seemed a bit boring. They managed to talk for about 20 minutes on the same subject!

Ive got two pregnancy books on the way for me to read, one light hearted one and one more in depth book explaining things. One reason why i love online shopping, i haven't had to leave the house to browse and buy!

My parents want to buy us a bigger gift for the baby-ie cot etc, didn't expect anything off them. My dad is very pleased to be a proper grandad for the first time!

  • keelykat - it is nice when other people offer to help out a bit with the expensive items - buying everything for baby can be so expensive. The only baby book i bought this time was the miriam stoppard's conception, pregnancy and birth. i bought this for my first pregnancy 12 years ago and bought and up to date copy this time round. quite a lot of useful information and pictures.

Bit quiet on here today again.

I love Portland Babies, it is on Discovery Home and Health 264 on Sky at 7pm most days I think. It is set at the Portland in London so it doesn't show any NHS things but I have found it useful to actually see lots of different types of births as well as the ante-natal care.
