Hi all,
I've joined with my EDD, though that may change after my scan. I'm 21, living in Warrington, and this is my first baby. The father left me the same day I found out, so I'll be a single mum too...but just getting used to the fact that might not be so badthe beautiful creature in my belly will be mine all mine, mwahahahha

Hi all. Seren Eliza arrived 4 days early on 11/11/07 5.21pm. She was 8lb 10oz and is just gorgeous.
Started contractions saturday night, 2 hrs after having a spicy curry! Just thought they were BH, but they were still there in the morning. Still thought they would go away, but at around 10am sunday morning realised this was it. Finally packed my hospital bag and made arrangements for kids. Contractions very irregular, but getting stronger. Went to hospital and arrived at 4.10pm, and got hooked up to heart rate machine for half an hour. Contractions very painful, every 5 mins but still bearable. Had a quick scan to determine how baby was lying and she was in perfect position. Got examined by doctor at 5 o'clock and was 8cm dilated. I couldn't believe it!!! Walked back from doctors room to delivery room and got on the bed. Midwife examined me and said on next contraction push!!!!!!! I was in shock it all happened so quick. After about 5 pushes Seren was born, 1 1/4 hrs after getting to hospital. I was shaking afterwards because I couldn't believe it was all over so quickly. Because she came so quick I ended up tearing, but the stitches aren't too painful really. Left hospital the next day.
I'll post a photo soon. Let's hope other November babies are early too!!!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Hi everyone I just got out of hospital Sunday evening and have only just found time to switch on and log in!!! First of all congratualtions to
curious george, Mazcabs, Shazy73, and hippychick who have also added to our ranks in the last week.
Anyway here's a my birth story:-
The last you heard from me I was on my way to the maternity hospital for a scan to monitor my pregnancy after going 14 days late. Well, the scan showed that there was almost no water left in the womb with the baby and so I was pretty much admitted then and there for the dreaded C section! They calculated 6 hours from the time I had last eaten and the cs was scheduled for that time.
I had a spinal block and so was awake during the operation and saw my new son Archie being born (they have a screen up which the surgeons lower specially so you can see as they take the baby out) - he cried the second he came out and it was a very emotional moment even if the first thing I did think was " my god he is huge". Then he was weighed and when they told me his weight (10lb 11oz) I was stunned.
Afterwards however things didn't go so well. Archie didn't take to feeding (which is not usually a problem with newborns as they are normally ok to not eat very much for a few days after birth) and had very low blood sugar levels and a dropping body temperature a few hours after he was born. His condition didn't improve and he was then admitted to the SCBU from the recovery room we were in about 5 hours after being born .
As you can imagine I didn't get much sleep that night - although I think the combination of pain killers and the lethergy after surgery stopped me from any major panicking and I didn't get to see my son again until I persuaded the midwife to detach me from the annoying drip attached to my hand (I couldn't get them to remove the needle attachment in my hand however which they left in in case I needed a transfusion or antibiotics later on) and could finally get off the bed unaided and into a waiting wheelchair at about 5am in the morning.
Then me and my tubular attachment (the embarrassing sort!)...made the trip to see my boy only to find him in a plastic incubator attached to tubes (feeding, drip and glucose) and monitors as well as being subjected to heel pricks every hour to monitor blood sugar levels.
After two days of Archie not responding particularly well to the treatment and wavering blood sugar levels the drs decided to perform a minor operation on him to install two tubes into his belly button which would deliver a stronger glucose solution as well as provide a way to take blood for testing. After this he finally started to improve and was discharged onto the ward for a further 3 days before we were allowed home (by which time I was climbing the walls and was getting less and less sleep every night so had turned into a zombie).
Archie is now fine and at present sleeping peacfully before his next feed at 1am - I'll try and post some photo's of my not so little one in the next couple of days. He is so big that he had already outgrown most of his clothes before he was born... we have skipped the newborn clothes altogether ..so much for all that careful preparation and washing etc before he was born lol :rotfl:MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Oh and just wanted to pen a quick thanks to purplepatch and others who posted cs op survival tips.. the tips to keep taking the pain killers and to get mobile were particularly good...I was on my feet within 12 hours of the op this time and I found it helped alot ...the painkillers speak for themselves really but it was amazing the number of groaning women I had to listen to in hospital due to the fact they thought they were better than they were and didn't need them only to find themselves in desperate need sometime in the middle of the night......MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0
