No idea, was going to get one last week but I thought it might just be a waste of money?

Do you just balance on it?

I wondered about this too then I read somewhere this week that you should try and spend some time leaning forward each day as the positions we generally tend to assume (sitting back when driving, on sofa etc) encourage baby to lie back to back with us which makes labour hard and leaning forward encourages baby into a better position for labour. Someone on there said she leans over her exercise ball each day.

Not sure how true that all is...and I think I won't bother with the ball. Will just keep cleaning floor on hands and knees and hopefully this baby will just fall out! (After a four day labour and a 48 hour labour i will try anything that clais to make labour faster, so any ideas ladies???)
  • :o Hi, haven't been on this thread since I found out I was pregnant with number 5. Since then have had first scan all looked fine. I was warned that my risk for DS baby would be high due to my age(37) Unfortunately my risk did come back high 1:174 Chance. This is obviously thrown my joy up in the air with loads of stress. I don't like the thought or chances of having an amnio so that isn't an option. I will have to sit back and wait the 5 weeks until the next scan and pray all the organs and measurements are correct and in working order.
Has anyone else had this happen?
oh by the way my EDD has been changed to 30/4/08

  • Apologies to anyne who already knew but to those who didn't Sainsbury's currently have a half price offer on all baby toiletries and wipes. OH and I went yesterday and got 6 packs of wipes (every brand I could find so I could see what I iked best as I remember when I had DD there were some I didn't like but don't know what they were), 2 bedtime baby baths, 2 baby washes, 2 shampoos, 2 nappy cream, 2 moisturising lotions, 1 baby oil, pack of breast pads and pack of maternity knickers and it only cost £15 altogether.

My sil has given me her birthing ball, i quite like bouncing on it :D and it's sooo comfy putting my feet up on it when relaxing on the sofa.
DH suggested i could use DS space hopper thingy instead, you know the big orange ones :rotfl:

Congratulations to all who have their ickle babies xx

Finished work on friday, it's so nice not to have to set the alarm.
Is anyone else finding it uncormfortable/painful when bun really wriggles??

Just looked at the due list and i'm 20th down the list  and i'm starting to take bets on wether we'll have a christmas or new year baby :D
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

  • Hello all, I'm still here!!

My exercise ball was one of the best £5 I've ever spent!! Sooo comfy to sit on and really helps with the posture, my midwife recommended it as it helps baby keep head down and comfy. I do find when I'm sitting or lying on the sofa that baby gets uncomfortable and it feels awkward so I go and sit on the ball and all is sorted!

I think I'll still use it after baby is born it's that comfy!
    :j Ellie (Eleanor) Sophie arrived 10 days late on 19th November at 8.21am. 9lbs 1 oz :j

I had the same thing, my risk was 1 in 230, and I'm only 26, was 25 when I had the triple test. We decided not to have an amnio, so I've just put it to the back of my mind really (I know easier said than done). Everything seemed finr at the 20 wk scan, and fingers crossed everything will be ok. If not, we'll deal with things.

    Hi

I posted along similar lines recently. My results were very similar to yours and I am 30 and pregnant with my 4th child. I decided to wait til i was 20 weeks and have the scan and see if any markers showed up. None did but i still opted to have an amnio the following day. The amnio was uncomfortable and i was told to rest up for a couple of days. I had it on the friday and got the initial results by monday which came back fine. Then there was the worry of whether i would miscarry this baby as there is a 1 in 100 chance. After 3 weeks the chance of miscarrying because of the amnio is minimal. I am now 24 weeks pregnant and can say now that i have had all the results back OK and am still pregnant, that i made the right decision for me. However, if i had miscarried a perfectly healthy baby it would have been a different story. You can only do what's right for you. How are you feeling carrying number 5?
    now mum of 4!!!
