  • Checking in lol!!!! Been at Tescos with MIL and am absolutely shattered, bought a ready meal to chuck in the oven for tea (terrible mother today!!) and mini donuts for after.

Emma has the midwife been yet, if so how did it go, I've never had a sweep and am keen to find out what I'm lettingmyself in for tomorrow. Am really hoping it works because I can hardly walk now, feel like a beached whale!!!

    No Rachel???

    :T yey your still here!
    rachel where are you????????

yes mw came at ten. the sweep was uncomfortable i know that doesnt help does it cos thats what i was told. basically it feels like some1 putting two fingers up way too far - sorry if tmi but thats what its like! (im presuming maybe same as when your in labour and have an internal ? never been ther though so dont know but MW said it is?)
mine has started to thin she said and she could get a finger tip in and swish it round :o:confused: am hoping that is a good sign
afterwards i felt a bit "invaded":rotfl: and had a bit of tummy ache, like period pain. lasted for about an hour. now i just feel a bit rubbish like before coming on a period (periods  what are they ?! god, id forgotten all about them:D )
she said they are quite successful but no guarantees so booked in for another sunday if no joy with this one, then induced next friday if no joy after sunday
hope that helps a bit?! sorry if tmi

i just hope it works i am going to have a bath then have a sleep i think i feel shattered now maybe i have been more worried than i thought!

ps sarah can i come for tea - donuts mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  • Emma good luck, I really hope it works, I will keep checking in to see if anything happens!! It does sound like an internal, all your diginity just flies out the window with pregnancy and birth lol!!!

I cant believe I have missed out on this thread until now. It is amazing the things you find when you don't have to go out to work every day.

I am due in two weeks and two days with my second child (but there is a ten year gap between them) and just about ready to pop.

What do you think the chances of convincing my midwife to do a sweep two weeks early is as my blood pressure is high, my ankles look like tree trunks and i am about as fed up as i could be!

thats the thing, there was no way of finding out for us the first time round! but now its so common we couldnt miss out on a 4D scan! i highly recommend it even if you dont want to know the sex, the experience in itself is just amazing!
Little Daniel here has been transverse for ages, laying on his back with his hands and feet right infront of his face but once we got a good look his 'bits' were VERY obvious!
I cant imagine getting sick of the name after a few months! after all your planning to use it forever! maybe your friend wasnt that keen anyway! lol
we decided on both sexes names long before the scan, so its lovely being able to call him Danny (and im full naming him already when hes being naughty!)

as for the signature... tell me about it! :rotfl:
ive known about this baby since i was 4 weeks

Me too, and it's been an age til 16 weeks! Think I know what to do about the sex - having read the threads about it on here, I've got the suggestion that you can ask the sonographer to write it on paper and seal it in an envelope. That sounds good so may consider that. Was never up for a 4D scan but after the pics I've seen and your posts (you sure you aren't on commission?) I quite fancy one now. We've had a family bereavement so I'm taking ds and my mum to cheer her up, she's quite chuffed and although I don't want to keep it from dh, if he doesn't want to know we could go the envelope option.

Hope all sweeps etc prove fruitful, fingers crossed!

Good news girls, my little one arrived in the world this morning - 2.17am to be exact! Contractions started at 7pm, hung around at home until 11pm. By the time I got to hospital was 4cm dilated. Then mw broke my waters which instantly took me to 6cm. Baby born a couple of hours later. Have to seriously recommend the gas and air, it's fab! :D Spent half the night cuddling and watching him when I should've been taking advantage and been asleep......so lucky he is here...............emma and sarah any sign of your little one's? Good luck to everyone on the list.

from what ive heard the envelope people usually end up looking, i would!
im not great with surprises so if there was a way to know... i would find it! that envelope would drive me NUTS! lol

i should be on 4D commission... but sadly im not :rotfl:
i did tell the woman at our scanning place that i had drummed up enough business showing people my photos to keep her going for the next few months though!
    looky looky! :D
pic 1 - my fave, its my PC and phone screen saver!
pic 2 - having a yawn (with umbilical cord in the way resembling a string of sausages)
pic 3 - dont worry, he doesnt have a chunk missing out of his arm! its the shadow of his foot (which was right above it)
