green tea not having much effect, sarah! :rotfl: i missed drinking it though, i used to live off the stuff b4 getting pregnant, then read you shouldnt drink it when expecting so only just started up again now (its early pregnancy it should be avoided)
i get stomach cramps every night, now i just tell myself to ignore them, ive got over the wandering is this it

my friend had a sweep and it started her off, well she was 10 days OD too, she described as feeling like midwife had "gone too far up" inside her! not painful just uncomfy. im having one on tues if no baby by then
come on baby come on baby COME ON!! :j :j :j :j (that is me bouncing on birthing ball :D )
  • dont worry Agutka,
ive been lying lately too, whenever people ask when im due and i say 9th november, they all react negatively and i hate it (i have a theory though... people equate november as being close to christmas... and people just dont want to know that christmas might be sooner than they think  )
so i stopped telling people the exact date and started saying the amount of weeks i have left....and the same damn thing happens....
just because they think 9 weeks sounds ages away it doesnt make it so!

so now when im asked i have started saying "around the end of next month" and so far EVERYONE has said "ohhhh...not long to go then"  even though my first 2 (unacceptable) answers are only a week further away!
    people are stupid!

am not looking forward to this afternoon, going up to the school for the first time since last term and getting all the comments, i know people think they are being nice but i have really lost my famous sense of humour lately when people start remarking about my size or how tired i look... i know you lot cant see me but im not a bloody heifer or anything! im measuring exactly as i should be at 31 weeks pregnant,
so im going to spend ages getting ready so i look effortlessly fabulous at the school gate :D :rotfl: :D
    woe betide anyone who starts!
  • Hi All!

Just after a bit of advice, have any of you flown between 30-34 weeks into your pregnancies?
I really want to get over to visit my family who have recently moved to Spain but this isnt going to be possible until at least a month or so.

Hi there. I flew at 34 weeks when I was pregnant with my second. Their limit was 34 weeks and I had to had a note from the doctor. It wasn't the most comfortable 4 1/2 hour flight ever and I also had my three year old with me. I booked it through First Choice, who were the only company willing to fly me that late on.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • Agutka, you've just bought yourself an extra two days to get ready :T ;)

and CG I have been lying to people for ages too, when I was being honest and saying I was due in October, jaws would drop and I got sick of it so I started saying 'the end of September'... hope that doesn't come back and bite me on the ****! Bit more honest now it IS September I'm saying 'next month' or '5 weeks' - but yeah jaws still drop...

My health visitor has just been, she was very nice and just had a huge checklist to go through, none of which was particularly detailed, and in parts random, included questions such as 'do you have any concerns about being a parent' (okay that's an obvious one but where did she want me to start?) and then 'is anyone in the family due any immunisations'... she also gave me the little red health book and a pile of leaflets to add to my collection. Apparently the tea I made was the best she's had all week. Ha!

Hi, not new to MSE, but new to the pregnancy board - how do I add myself to the list? I'm due 27th November, so 12 weeks to go. And have I done anything to prepare? I don't think so!
Partially due to being under resourced at work, so trying to do the work of 2 people, and have also just gone down to part time, so trying to do 10 days work in 3 - unsuprisingly my morning "to-do" list is now composed of deadlines I will miss today. Does anyone else feel so loyal to an employer that they take on more than they should do? OH is livid with me for trying to do so much, keeps telling me just to leave.

Another question - are the NCT ante-natal classes better than the NHS ones? Have just been offered a place on the NCT ones in Carterton, but at £160 it is quite a lot of money. I can find the money if it will be work it?

Well not really, seeing as I've known since my 12 week scan... Just never changed it here, as prefer the word september

:rotfl: :rotfl: Like, HELLO!!! But at least it's nice for someone to mention the P word. I can't see past the house, let alone the birth, LET ALONE what comes after

Funniest thing I read in a pregnancy magazine today - in your second and subsequent pregnancies you will see your midwife less often than during your first. Seven appointments will be the norm :rotfl: :rotfl: I've had what, a grand total of three, and even though she sent me to the hospital with suspected pre-eclampsia, she still had no intention of seeing me again until the 40 week appointment. Nice. I feel so unloved ;)

Congratulations Alex, I love your to do list of missed deadlines. I have no comment to make about NCT - do a search to find my thread from a few months back. I had the same question about our £200 classes. They were very nice, I suppose we learnt lots, but the people were very humourless. We're meeting up for lunch this saturday and I'm so not looking forward to it. Even the emails we exchanged were unfriendly. The NHS classes I enjoyed immensly though. We were much more integrated, made to talk to each other and learnt stuff from the actual midwives, which was great. But I suppose, information-wise, it all merged together and complimented. NCT must have taught us more, as we had more hours with them, but all my favourite info came from midwives, who were just more friendly and interesting.
    :wall:
  • Agutka - I am pregnant with my fourth and can't believe how few appointments we are given. My midwife has said that there is a baby boom and it is really difficult to get an appointment. in my case the midwife only seems to have time for the formalities and no chit chat. I am finding this pregnancy particularly stressful and it would be great to have a chat. My midwife with my last child was great.

Think that it is really sad that there aren't more midwives to go round and give a bit more patient care, as I feel that in pregnancy in particular our emotional well-being is just as important as our physical health.
    now mum of 4!!!
  • Am I allowed to wallow in self pity?!

I went for my weekly MW appointment and was packed straight off to hospital for monitoring as my BP was too high  (again!)

The upside is that I got to sit in a lovely comfy chair with my feet up for a whole hour and listen to baby's heartbeat! The downside is that those automatic BP machines piggin' hurt! :o

Anyways, they said it has settled a bit now but a MW is coming out tomorrow to check and I have to call the hospital after lunch for my blood results

PS: not sure if its just because of my BP, but up until now I have had 12 MW appointments so far. Every time they have checked my BP, checked my wee, measured my bump and listened to baby's heartbeat. I think its quite shocking how little care some of you ladies are receiving

I felt really well looked after by Liverpool Health when I was having dd (monthly appoint until 32w and then fortnightly until 36w and then weekly) but I moved out to the stix and am now under a different Health Authority they don't do as many appointments or give you as much time.

I'm going back to the L,pool Womens for the birth and my MW threw a hissy fit when they sent me back for appointments they don't do. I've still managed to get more appointments than others who go to the local hosp but still feel a bit lost
