i took some paracetemol last night and tbh it did take the edge off, but today im the same again  mum has lent me a tens machine and said give that a go while im at home ?
we went to parentcraft last night, a class on labour at hospital and the mwife there said no doubt you have all had some backache and some will experience period type pains, all normal, its if pains are intermittent that you should ring. so i felt a bit soft then:o mind you she did keep looking at me as i squirmed in my seat and i was sweating so much i thought i was gonna faint. same again this morning.
one thing i have thought is maybe uti with all the backache but surely id feel some sensation when i peed? i am peeing lots but then again doesnt everyone preggy lady! and no pain ? im at mwife next weds so will ask her then
on the plus side from the group we got to see the birthing pool and i really fancy that idea - is anyone else hoping for a water birth?0 -
emma, as your bump gets bigger you're more likely to get back pain as the bump pulls your spine forwards. I find sitting on my birthing ball really helps as it helps relieve the pressure but also gives me more mobility to move my pelvis around so I do my exercises. Also look at doing pelvic tilts - stand side on so you can see your pelvis and bump in the mirror with your knees soft, tip your pelvis under and pull your bump in at the top. Repeat 3-4 times. The other one to do is on all fours start with your back in a neutral straight position, breathe in deeply and arch your back carefully and then breathe out and push your bump downwards then return to neutral. Again repeat 3-4 times. (I'm not sure I'm explaining these very well - if in any doubt speak to a physio or get a proper antenatal exercise DVD so you can see what position you should be in.)
Is the period pain pelvic pain or more muscles. If it's pelvic then it could be worthwhile seeing a physio in my area you can self refer so it's worth phoning the physio department and asking if they do a pregnant women's advice session. I'd recommend them to any pregnant woman as it helps with prevention as well as treatment.
If it really doesn't get any better then go and see a chiropractor.0 -

Emma - I bought a gym ball from Tesco just under £6 I think, complete with pump and its almost exactly the same. My MW said they were too. Hope you get some relief, but if you are at all worried about what the pain is, call your midwife that's what she is there for.0 -
Well girls I'm still here and very fed up. I had 5 hours of contractions yesterday and then they stopped. and other than a few twinges throughout the rest of the day absolutely nothing. Both me and DH are shattered as I didn't sleep very well last night and every time I got up for the toilet DH woke up to check I was ok.
The thing that is concerning me the most is I have a week before my due date and I could then still be 2 weeks over which means I might have another 3 weeks to go, which is an eternity. I feel like crying. I was so convinced it was goingt to happen yesterday.0 -

Oh no....poor you, Welshlassie!! I was so hopeful for you yesterday! It is such a hard time waiting, isn't it? I think the last few weeks are really hard, because you just never know, and every twinge makes you think..."is this it??"
Just got your email, but nothing on it? Not sure why that happens!!
Try and get some rest today!
Hugs

urggh I really thought I had done with the sickness but last night was up all night vomiting. i think actually rather than my PG related sickness (that seemed to stop 2 weeks ago) this is pain related as I had the worst migraine EVER and my eyes were killing me. I didn't take any tablets as in my experience paracetamol is useless at migraine anyway but the cold flannel just wasnt up to the job!
nearly 17 weeks now isn't this supposed to be the good bit0
