A NSD for me today - although very nearly wasn't. It got to lunchtime and I realised that I had left my sandwiches at home. This is a regular occurrence in my house, what with having to remember school bags, books, PE kits, lunch bags etc. So, I hopped into the car and drove to Sainsbugs BUT (and this is the important bit) instead of going in, I drove right past and saved the money instead :D. So I didn't spend any money and I was rescued from starvation by a packet of Bourbon biscuits someone had kindly left in the staffroom :D.

Update on the heating front is that we are still only having it on when it's a bath night and we need the hot water. I am now completely accustomed to boiling the kettle for washing up water and Hubby also seems to be on board. Quite right too!

Girlies are outside enjoying their last half hour in the sun before bed. DD2's rash has disappeared so that's good and she is extremely chuffed with herself as she has just found in her dinner 'the longest chip in the world!' :rotfl:

  • Oh I hate to disappoint but my DD also found the longest chip in the world. Ever.:rotfl::rotfl: I remember doing that when I was younger. Great game ;)

:j:T:j:T Woop, woop to driving straight past the SM :T:T yay! Good for you, i'd have gone in probably :o hate an empty stomach!

Good afternoon HB. I remember playing longest chip in the world with my sister. The amount of times we would measure up & hers would be bigger... I'd cut the end off & she would cry. Evil child I was...

Hope DD2 still feeling chipper & no more rash. Had she had/been near strawberries or something? My friend has an allergy to strawberries & that's how she always used to go, then it would fade away again!

I am so impressed with your drive past the supermarket! Worst thing in the world going to the supermarket when hungry! I do it allllllll of the time. Go in for milk, come out with milk, crisps, 5 packets of individual 4-pack chocolates as 'they were only £1 for 4' - 4 packets of 'yellow sticker' cookies from the end of the aisle & goodness knows what else my hungry eye spots on the way out. It's never any good food... and usually ends up costing £25+. Hahaha.

I earned £15 yesterday selling my breadmaker to my friends mum. It's been sat in the cupboard, still sellotaped up from when I moved here 4 years ago.. Works perfectly since I used it only about 4 times in all

NSD = 2 so far this month if I include today stuck at work with no hope of spending. I must update my signature & give myself something good to aim for!

    Hi Harri-bear,

Enjoying your diary and loving the tales about your girls they sound super cute. I am glad you and your hubby are sorting out your finances.

You are so disciplined with your heating, I couldn't do that, I would rather skimp on something else. I hate being cold and feel trapped and suffocated under layers of clothes. My ideal scenario is t-shirt and shorts and the heating turned up to tropical.

Karenccs67, your cakes are beautiful, I do hope you charge enough.

The funny thing is, I don't actually remember playing 'longest chip in the world'. Never, ever. I feel strangely short-changed!:rotfl:

Lilt, I can't believe you cut the end off your sister's chip. I am both dismayed and, strangely, impressed with your behaviour!:D

Well, I may have been able to drive past the supermarket yesterday, but today.... I only wanted the cash point and came out with an egg and cress butty and a four pack of dairy milk (hangs head in shame).

Hi Moneymash, as you can see from the above, I can give up the heating but I cant give up the chocolate!:o

  • HB you missed out as a child! longest chip in the world game in our house would usually end in tears and tantrums and a full on punch up between me and my sisters if ours came up short  LOL

Well 1 out of 2 on the driving past the SM isn't bad ;)

Oh Karen I am so jealous. Michael Buble is the prettiest man ever & has the nicest voice. Shame about the knock-out wife or I'd be sat on his doorstep with a bow around me!

dfw321 - punch ups were a regular occurrence in my house too. I was only explaining to DH yesterday how my feisty little sister nearly actually killed me once. I blacked out because of her death grip around my throat & lucky my mum came in or she would have finished the deed. she got away with it though. From evil angry pixie to butter wouldn't melt big brown eyes in an instant. Monster.

HB I'd consider that a win on the food front to be honest. I'd have ended up with crisps, a drink.. a pack of cookies... and probably more chocolate than that as well ;)

I've joined the NSD thread this month. I need to start tracking my earnings again. I paid £1.99 for an accounting app a while back and used it to track us from October to January. I tracked every bank accout in the house & every debt, manually copying into it my every spend. I even had a 'cash' figure which was the shrapnel in my purse & added my topcashback & paypal balances too. It really worked though. I went from spending £1700 per month to £1030 instantly!

    Nearly the weekend peeps :)

Hey Karen, congrats on the Michael Buble ticket - he is soooo classy! :j

Been to the supermarket again, after discovering no bread for my sandwich this morning and finding that two lots of unopened milk were off this morning. They were dated 10th June, so hubby took them back and exchanged them - gone are the days when I'd just have tipped it down the sink and bought more. :)

    Yellow sticker bargains tonight -

1 vintage cheese ploughmans baguette 20p

1 pack of meatballs and tomato sauce was £2.89 got for 20p

1 pack of lamb stewing steak was £4.34 got for 50p

1 beef joint was £12.84 got for £3.60

    2 jam doughnuts 10p :)

    Oh, happy days!
