The cynic in me would make me think Argos are making sure monies owed to them are going to be paid back at their APR, because if there system is not up to doing balance transfers" because it,s a new card" then they should fix it pronto. i took the other way out and used debit card to pay of my balance so they did not hood wink me..

PS This "new card" is actually over 12 months old so it's not that new is it!

Pound that "new" comment was reference to what they were telling me, when i queried the so called BT problem. just another fob off. and i was explaining to them it was not actually that new....

Anyone know the BIN number for the card - first six digits of the card starting '5': I will check when I back at work to see if our system is set to allow BTs on it

I have this Argos mastercard and it does exactly what it says on the tin. You buy something, you pay a minimum payment for 2 months, then clear the balance on that purchase by month 3 and you pay no interest. This applies to everything you buy with the card. You can buy several things and have up to 3 months to pay it off before interest is applied. I'm going to be clearing all of my credit cards over to Egg (0% on BTs until 1 Aug 2009) and using this one from now on, so I'll soon find out if there's still a balance transfer problem. There's an alternative to the Argos card now. I believe they're called "gold" credit cards and again you have up to 3 months to pay off your purchases before interest is applied.

Sorry not in the office at the moment so can't find details out.

No harm can be given whilst knowing the BIN number; the BIN is common knowledge. Everyone on the Argos card will have the same six digits on their card and the next ten numbers are the other part of the account.

Say the BIN number is 123456 then 1234560000000000 to 1234569999999999 is Argos card related.

The last number is a check digit which is a mathematical equation. In theory yes I could work out the account numbers but would be trial/error at time. Plus wont know the expiry date and/or CVV
