thanks Errata, where did you hear about this? was it on Sky news?
Katie
It was in the Sunday Times this morning, should be on their website. It means the fund is liable for 17.5% vat on purchases, and it can't claim back from the gov the tax donors have already paid like a charity can......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I agree lisyloo Maddys parents dont need reminding.!!
Why not? If it was anyone else, they would be reminded by social workers, neighbours, family members AND any other children would be in put straight into care! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Why lock the thread? What is so taboo about questioning this whole scenario? The op is suggesting that people donate money to a fund, isn't it right that the fund itself is scrutinised? Shouldn't people be aware of just exactly what they are contributing to? Shouldn't those that read the thread have an opportunity of making their minds up based on both sides of the story not just one?
Can someone explain what we are meant to be paying for? Its not to find the child, its so they can stay in Portugal a bit longer while others find her? Its separate to the reward money isn't it?
I most certainly WON'T be giving them a penny to stay in Portugal, I would like to see them arrested for neglect and their other kids taken in to care so they are looked after properly! They could have a long good holiday at Her Majesty's Pleasure courtesy of tax payers then!!
Bless the poor sweet child, I do hope she is found safe but really would worry if she was meant to be looked after by those parents againOfficial DFW Nerd 2100 -
I'm not unsympathetic to parents losing their child, but according to the Police National Missing Persons Bureau, nearly 400 children under 14 go missing for more than 14 days in the UK every year.
Where's the sympathy and *fighting fund* for them?

[sarcasm] the kids on that list are prolly from poor backgrounds or single parents, im sure the parents are not doctors and therefore dont deserve any funding or attention. [/sarcasm]No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
I sincerely hope that the pictures of the McCann family in all the papers today showing them laughing & playing with their twins aren't shown to Madeleine.
I know that life for the twins has to go on, but did we really need to see those pictures?
If someone is holding Madeleine those pictures look as though they don't care about her.0 -
I'm afraid the parents seem to be using the media circus to mask there shortcomings of doing what a good parent should have done i.e. not leaving their children in an unlocked apartment whilst they enjoyed a dinner with their friends.0

looks that way,
shame on them.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

The Police sniffer dogs traced Madeleines scent to a Supermarket around the corner.
Police (both here and in Portugal) think the child wandered out from the Apartment to the Supermarket around the corner, where she was then taken, probably by a paedophile who made the most of the oppourtunity.
i didnt rrealise this was the case. i thought that she had been taken from her bed. poor poor girl0 -
What a lovely bunch you are!! There is no doubt that these parents made a very grave mistake and only god knows whether she will be returned. But, they can only focus on searching for her. Just because the media has caught them smiling for a second with their twins, doesnt mean they arent tormented with guilt. I would suggest instead of judging them you pray for madeleine, and also for them. I can only imagine the hell they are living. worry about punishment if and when madeleine is found. No parent deserves to go through this.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.
