How many of you keep a close eye on your child/ren when you are in a shop, having sex, in the toilet? How often has your child broken free or run off? How often have you accidentally bumped into a child and caused injury?
The criminal here is the person/people who abducted this child..not the parents. They are suffering enough.
The selfrighteous here can cast a stone if the answer to the first set of questions is no or if they aren't parents i guess.
In the meantime, pray for this child and your own.
And yes..the media is a useful tool. It can be used to create awareness across the world...unlike our government which uses it to wager war and kill scores of children across the world.

having sex? lol!!! Call me self-rightous but i wouldn't leave 3 kids under 4 alone in a holiday flat!! and when i'm in the supermarket, my child is by my side!! I keep a close eye on my child!!

It is an offence to leave children at home alone!

    "Leaving children at home alone
    What the law says

The law does not set a minimum age at which children can be left alone. However, it is an offence to leave a child alone when doing so puts him or her at risk.

How do you decide if you can safely leave a child alone?

There are many important things to consider before you decide to leave a child alone. These include:

    the age of the child
the child's level of maturity and understanding
the place where child will be left
how long the child will be left alone, and how often
whether or not there are any other children alone with the child."

Therefore - it could be unreasonable to leave 3 children under the age of 4 alone for an evening in a holiday complex in a foreign country. Some woman was prosecuted a couple of years ago for leaving some kids at home alone while she went off on holiday. Yes, that is a more extreme example, but as far as im concerned, if you have children and your social life takes a hit, then so be it, thats the choice you make. This is exactly why I have chosen not to have children; I dont want the responsibility. They should have stayed at home or hired a sitter.

Whilst I feel for the little girl as it isnt her fault and I sincerely hope she will turn up safe and well, I have no sympathy for the parents. They were idiotic to think an unlocked door is safe. What if there was a fire? Can 3 under 4's really be able to get themselves out of a burning building safely? I hope they are prosecuted for neglect - it would certainly send a strong message to the countless other parents who would do the same thing.

For petes sakes, how many times does it have to be said?
We all, even us 'perfect parents' or as i'd like to call us, parents with just a smidgen of common sense know that we can't keep an eye on our children 24/7.
Yes sometimes a child might, break free and run off or be bumped into and hurt, I cant say i've been and had sex in a toilet whilst in charge of my child but hey what ever floats your boat  :p
I've lost my child up my local parade of shops, i think most parents monetarily loose their children or loose sight of them anyways.
BUT there is a big fat difference between not having eyes in the back of your head and going out for dinner leaving 3 children under the age of 4 ALONE!
TBH if it were me, my first thought would be if my son woke up and i wasn;t there he'd freak out, probably break out of the room or burn the place down!
I belive 100% that if it was say someone like me who it had happened to (lone young parent living in a HA house) I'd be cussed big time by the media.

Dont usually post on this sort of thread but....
The parents should think themselves extremely lucky that ALL the kids didnt go missing !!!!
So I have to agree with CAROLM.

Most parents are responsible and do keep a close eye on their children. All parents know how easy it is to lose concentration - we are only human after all - however, this is not the case in this particular instance - this was not a momentary lapse in concentration, the parents made the decision to leave them to go an eat.
We all make mistakes but I would never leave my children alone in that situation. At the very least, the parents should have been using a baby monitor but even then......

Whilst I agree that at the moment the parents are suffering unbearably, this does not excuse them and I believe it would be wrong for them to get off scott free in the long term. Both they and the (alledged) abductors should both be held to account for their actions.

See first comment above. In this instance, the parents are intelligent, highly qualified professionals and can hardly claim ignorance.

I am not sure how I feel about the fund. If I was in this situation, I know that I would appreciate all the financial support that was offered. I may not be on benefits, but then neither am I on Doctors salaries either. I think I would be more happy if we were being asked to contribute to a more general fund for helping parents of missing children, both in the UK and abroad, who were in need.

I don't think the OP has got the response they expected

TBH many poster's who start threads regarding this missing child, don't often get the response they expect but this is down to EVERYONE being entitled to their opinion. This then turns into a very heated debate and then some poster's only retaliate with personal insults, then the threads get locked or deleted.

I think the case is tragic.
I think the parents were negligent but I don't think they need to be constantly reminded of that.

However I am not sure whether money will help very much in this particular case, so whilst it's tragic I can think of places where my money could be put to better direct use.
