Totally Agree, parents are unfit and the other two children should be removed from them, this was not the first night the children were left in the apartment, how sad when parents prefer a night out rather than spend a night with there children on holiday, and they call themselves caring, loving parents.....

'Shouty' 'CAROLM'....why?...Judge, Jury & Executioner...based on what has been said in the Press/Media....forgive me I'll wait until Maddy is found & the truth comes out before I make a judgement & not rely on heresay

i agree with the fact that the parents shouldn't off left them, but now is not the time to start judging these people.
don't you think whether Maddie is found or not that her parent will regret that decision for ever.
They are going through more upset and torture and grief than an judge could give them.

we just all pray that they get their daughter back safe and well and their two other children are all they have got at this moment to hang on to.

I do hope and pray that this little girl is found safe and sound, but i already fear that she wont be.
I do agree with most posters tho, the parents should feel ashamed of themselves, this wasnt the first night they left their children alone in a room (apparently with the door unlocked in case of fire). Yes, they were 50 yards away, but they couldnt even see the door of their apartment from where they were eating and drinking. If that had been me, as a single mum, i think i wouldve been arrested and charged with neglect by now - but then, i would have more sense than to leave my children alone while i went out for a meal - if i couldnt take them with me, i wouldnt go.
Whatever the outcome, these people have to live for the rest of their lives knowing that their neglect has caused this, which is punishment enough. It is Madeline herself and her brother and sister that i feel the most for.

Perhaps there should be some sort of funding for advising parents/carers specifically about how it can be an offence to leave your children alone.

These parents, supposedly intelligent , yet they thought it ok to leave 3 children under 4 alone. If they knew they could be prosecuted for acting in this way would they have done it ?

There isnt actually a law about what age a child can be left alone, however, if you left children of this age alone and something happened, you could be prosecuted - i think this would be a case of something happening!!!

Catowen, is it really not an offence to leave your children alone ? I admit I just guessed that it must be because of that NSPCC advert on the tv showing that little kiddie all alone , looking for food in the bin.

If it's not an offence then it should be.

I wonder that if the child had been from a poor ethnic minority family, would it have got the same media attention?

    Draw your own conclusions!

Comments over the rights and wrongs of this case, especially an opinion expressed by mystic_trev, aren't helpful or plesant to read for that matter.

Ahhh now isn't that the truth or don't we want to face it?

How many of you keep a close eye on your child/ren when you are in a shop, having sex, in the toilet? How often has your child broken free or run off? How often have you accidentally bumped into a child and caused injury?
The criminal here is the person/people who abducted this child..not the parents. They are suffering enough.
The selfrighteous here can cast a stone if the answer to the first set of questions is no or if they aren't parents i guess.
In the meantime, pray for this child and your own.
And yes..the media is a useful tool. It can be used to create awareness across the world...unlike our government which uses it to wager war and kill scores of children across the world.
