that are just plain wrong. For instance "she was abducted from the apartment" The Police found no evidence of a forced entry, and think the child may have wandered out to the road entrance by the side of their apartment. In fact the sniffer dogs trailed her scent to the Supermarket around the corner, where it stopped.

I suspect the police don't even know the rule truth so the media certainly don't.

Surly if she did wonder then it's not a planned adduction and more likely a small time perv. Surly all this massive media attention would scare the pants of him/her to leave her somewhere, I guess not, which worries me.

There are really only two people that know what happened and we can't find either of them.

At least the interest in this thread is keeping the hope alive.

PS: I did see something today that said the police 'belived' she was as sleep when see was taken, not sure how they now that as the two twins were a sleep as well. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1266780,00.html

The parents are behind the film showings and the longer the daughter is in the media the better for them. As soon as she isn't then people start to forget and talk about something else.

They need the publics help if they are to find her.

With the greatest of respect, this isn't true. The last thing anyone searching for this girl needs is thousands of well meaning people clogging up the information lines with useless information because they empathise and want to help. What is needed is actually clear and specific information from people who actually have information to give. It's pure nonsense to claim that anyone who was in the vicinity and who might have information would be unaware of the case.

And anyway where does this end? The showing of the film extends the already feverish media coverage slightly. But if it tails off do we get increasingly sensationalist stunts every few days to keep the media feeding frenzy going?

I have every sympathy for the parents - whatever the facts behind their decision to leave a child unminded. Presumably they have an overwhelming desire to do something, and they will certainly need cash to stay in Portugal while the situation plays out. But what is happening in fact is that a tragic situation is being turned into a circus, and people at newspapers and trash magazines are SPECIFICALLY using it to increase circulation and make money.

Which is sickening, at least to my mind.

Who said that they dont think they did wrong????

They are probably torturing themselves every second!!! How can you possibly know what someone else is thinking???

yep torturing themselves every second right???....

my goodness... took me a while to read through all them posts !!

    but...

yes its mad what they did, and i am in shock at them not being even questioned by social workers, but has anyone read the webpage they set up???

that will really fox you.. they give a 'daily' account of what they get up to at the MOMENT.. get up eat brekkie, play with kids, leave them in childcare all day, meet up later for tea, then go out about 8pm for tea with adults... nice. now read it to the bottom, and they say they spend quality time with twins till they go to playgroup, but at the very bottom it states that kate has started her running up again, as shes a keen athlete and goes running at 7am in the morning... so again leaving the twins. she wants to go for a run fine (i am sure at a time like this there is better things for her to be doing but...) she could surely go for a run when they go to the playgroup at 9.30??

THAT is NOT torturing yourself is it?? read the 'daily' account and see for yourself how many hours they are spending scouring the nearby apartments and bushes, no, they are NOT. i would be out looking from the first hour.

i know i seem judgemental, but my god, its only about 3 hours a day they spend with the twins now.

and no, sorry, the way she is being shown by HER own site, and the media i dont think they seem on the verge of a breakdown, which i would be if my kids went missing..

but then my kids are around my legs 24/7 mummy mummy mummy etc etc, drives me mad but still wouldnt leave them to go for a meal, 1 check an hour?? ... her kids are in daycare all day NOW, then she wants rid of them for a meal later too???

    extra hugs would be better...

lets just hope we get answers as i have a bad feeling something much more sinister has happened. as it was in fact 2 hours since the mother checked, once at 8pm then 10pm (when she discovered her missing) lets ask the question did the dad check the bed or just listen in at the room? was he to blame? you are more likely to get killed by someone you know than a stranger, why not take the twins? surely they would of had a higher value on the 'child market' as twins are sought after... i have seen too many cases in the UK here where the parents are sobbing at the press conference only we discover 3 weeks later it was them. that poor child... lets hope she is found soon..

Please don't go down that route. It's just speculation & will cause arguments in this thread, then the thread will be locked.

I will criticise the parents for leaving their children, I feel justified in doing that because in my opinion it is NEVER safe to leave children.

I don't agree with the Fighting Fund (have voiced my opinions on this in another thread).

I don't agree with the family photos that were in the papers at the weekend (for reasons already mentioned in this thread).

I won't criticise the parents for what they are wearing, how they are spending their days, putting their twins in the creche, going for a run etc etc

OK - question - have you ever been in a life-changing situation? - i.e. death of a partner/child - breakdown of marriage - discovery of shocking information? If the answer is yes to this question, you will know that there is no wrong or right in how you deal with that. You may break down and be unable to function, or you may be the complete oposite - be upbeat, and get on with life as normal - or anywhere inbetween that!

From experience - I know that they will be putting the needs of their children first - if that means putting them into daycare whilst they deal with their own emotions then what is the problem? I know that I would not want my children to see me scream, shout, cry etc. I would want them to see me as the Mummy that they feel safe with.

And yes, you do appear to be judging. You do not know the McCanns and you certainly dont know how you would react if you were them.

Call me a cynic, but why do the Parents, both Doctors probably earning c £200,000 per annum between them, want the public to finance the results of (at best) their failure as parents, and worse, a case of child neglect. Sorry Mr and Mrs McCann - you screwed up, you sort it out with your own money.

I doubt they are earning £200k, that is another bit of media hype.

How do you know how much money they have/earn?

Dont give to the fund if you dont want to, but dont critisise others who want to.
