They are probably torturing themselves every second!!! How can you possibly know what someone else is thinking???
Because I have seen a member the family (sister of one of the parents) on TV saying that it was okay what they did and that people shouldn't criticise as we would all have done the same or something like that. She was speaking on their behalf.Official DFW Nerd 2100 -

Oh I see.
You had best get a flight over there and explain it to them then. I am sure they will be very grateful for your advice.

Yes thats right, whatever you say :rotfl:
What do you suggest that is done then? Just keep pretending that they was ok to leave their kids so we don't hurt their feelings??Official DFW Nerd 2100 -

Why does anything have to be 'done'?
They are desperately trying to find their daughter and trying to keep some normality for their other children (something that is extremely difficult after any life-changing event - let alone one such as this one).
What could possibly be achieved by 'doing something'? I dont understand what you want to happen?0 -

Ok, arguing on here isn't going to solve anything so am going to just agree to disagree with some ideas. I just think they have been really stupid and that should be recognised, there are plenty of idiots out there like the McCanns were that night, that will leave kids alone while they go out for the evening.
All I am saying is that point should be acknowledged surely? Ok, so anyone with average intelligence knows that it was wrong, and I'm sure most of us can see the consequences of doing such a thing, I just think it should be highlighted thats all, but I guess thats down to the media portrayal of the events not the family.Official DFW Nerd 2100 -

All the money in the world isn't going to bring her back if someone is determined to keep her (or god forbid, if it is too late).
Sometimes even a reward for information can cause 'jokers' to come forward with false information which is a shame. And I do think it is a shame that others have gone missing and there has been no help or coverage of that.
I think the money was for the parents to go looking for her around Europe, or for them to stay in Portugal for the moment. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -

OK - agree to disagree on certain points.
IMO I do not see what it would achieve to highlight anything. We can all see the consequences of their actions, whether we agree with what they did or not. I think it would be cruel and unecessary to kick them whilst they are down by the media condemning their actions to the world.
And I have to just say, the impression that I got was not that 'they do not feel they did anything wrong', but 'they did not feel at the time they were doing wrong' - two completely different things and the knowledge of hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I personally think that they are holding things together really well under the horrific circumstances and managing to keep some normality for their other children.0 -
And people who leave their children alone while they go out to socialise disgust me.
Many of the facts of this case have been masked by the media, and it will be interesting to see the Police's official report, if it's ever released. There have been many so called facts in the way the media have reported this case, that are just plain wrong. For instance "she was abducted from the apartment" The Police found no evidence of a forced entry, and think the child may have wandered out to the road entrance by the side of their apartment. In fact the sniffer dogs trailed her scent to the Supermarket around the corner, where it stopped.0 -
